Going through life with the 'check engine' light on...
I got a New Years text from an old friend I haven't seen in a few years. He asked what I was up to and I responded that I'm back into flying model aircraft. We met as a group who used to talk on 2-way radio, starting with CB and later getting ham radio licenses. Now, his hobby/sport is guns. Lots of guns. I asked if he was into buying and selling as a collector and his response was shooting. I guess that's his final answer. He did say he's going through life with the 'check engine' light on and I understand that statement.
I'll have to stop by to see him on my next trip to Miami.

There aren't enough hours in the day when 2 events are scheduled next to each other. So the 'check engine light' phrase means things that are not done have to wait for a while.
He's an insomniac and sometimes stays up most of the night reading... anything of interest. I know for a while it was science fiction but his interest in guns probably has him studying manuals, specifications and technical details... probably shared mental and physical strain.
