Who is next?

There are about 1000 political prisoners in Russia now. It is more, than there were in late USSR times. That means, that the present putler's regimen is worse.

Well I guess that's us being told.

Just out of curiosity and possible ignorance could you please enlighten me as to what could take the place of Western arrogance ,double standards and double morale, and isn't Russia itself guilty of the same.Where is morality in Putin killing off people who want change by making them disappear. That's not democracy it's tyranny.

Being currently on the brink of World War 111 will not just affect the Western World surely and I wonder which country will be the first to press the red button?doh
Second response to your comments .

Seems China is not happy with Putin's threats to use small nuclear warheads on Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin has repeatedly warned that tactical nuclear weapons are on the table for use in Ukraine. This week, Russia started preparations for missile drills near Ukraine simulating the use of these tactical nuclear missiles in response to "threats" by Western officials.

Tactical nuclear weapons are small nuclear warheads intended for use on the battlefield, or for a limited strike. They are designed to destroy enemy targets without causing widespread radioactive fallout.

It seems President Xi has played an important role in de-escalating Russia's irresponsible nuclear threats and threatens to tear up their alliance.dunno
He has offered continously cooperation and friednship building since he took office and he has warned the West since 2007 continously. Specially regarding the red lines in neighbouring UA which was in particular a shared ground of Western and Eastern Ukrainians in terms of cultural and social values.

BTW 1:
please check the meaning of `Ukraine´. It is the land at the border or the frontier land.
It derives from the times when the Lithuanian and Polish kingdom was expanding to the East. Later on, among others, Russia has even bought the city of Kiev back.

However, you musn`t be a Putin-friend in order to understand that a permanent member of the UN Security Council with THE largest connected strategic landmass of the world, as well as one of the three global nuclear superpowers, takes its own right as continental superpower, as the US has claimed for the whole of the West since WW II, and has tried for the whole world since fall of Socialism in 1989.
It was (only) the (temporarly) belief of the West that their in the meantime failed capitalist system seemed superior over the failed socialist system.

Unfortunatly, they (the West) has failed to develop alternative models for civilizational development in order to overcome the systemic failures. They failed to do so since the first massive warning of the financial cirsis in 1999.

According their own principles and claims of a value based society of alleged free people, I think, they have specially failed because their "values" have turned out the only true interests in favor of (one side) favoured rules in order to increase mainly their material profits.

Specially as step by step implemented by the dependence on the Dollar system, the coupling between oil prices and Dollar system, Western predominant rules in the Int`l frameworks for trade, communication, banking etc.

And to understand the complexities, please bear in mind, the commonly agreed Economic, Social and Cultural pillars of fundamental and self determinant rights are ment equally.
But the Western material powers have systematically underminded the tow latter pillars in late and post-capitalism.

So you also dont need to be a Putin friend in order to understand that he has prevailed Russia being overtaken and exploited by oligarchs such as the one who claims a list of so called "democratic" regime critics. What sort of people are they in particular?

Watch YT videos and have a look what Non-Russian foreigners say who live in Russia or in other states which are not typically Western servant or puppet countries.

BTW 2:
did you know that Soros has just recently admitted in a panel speech that one of his hedge funds in UA has successfully financed former UA president Poroshenko? Yes correct, this president who was the follow-up of the illegal Coup dEtat which was financed by the CIA.

BTW 3:
did you know that at Oct 18th, 2023 the highest district court of Kiev has acknowledged with their verdict that the Maidan massacre of 2014 with more than 100 people killed was not undertaken by Russia and that the perpetuators were all shooting from a building which was under full control of the "democratic" protestors ??

The West is telling lies, lies and again lies. They are at least not better of all they have blaimed in the last 20-30 years.

Moreover, who again has overthrown, manipulated or provocated dozens of wars or violant uprisings since WW II and specially in the last 30 years ???
Reallydoh There was me thinking that Putin himself was one of the ,if not the .richest men in the World.grin Please tell me different.
prove? where??

Forbes magazine and alike claim constantly others of such a title.
However, it says nothing about the topic and the regular claims of the West.

the West is just annoyed that their fraudulent system is falling apart and they can`t do anything but to provoke WW III in order that some of them may survive.

They dont care on the dozens of thousands of deaths as just demonstrated since UA RU war or since all the Middle East wars. They didnt care at all but invented always new terms in order to wrapp endless wars because their system is heavily dependent on producing always new debitors in order to crerate profits. Thats the whole truth and the voters still belief the crap they are telling in order to hide whats going on really.
The West isn't threatening the use of nuclear weapons Putin is ,which is why China has its eye on the ball.

I abhor war and have never assumed that what is in the media is the truth ,the whole truth, and nothing but the truth , Wars for whatever reason and sadly many are over religion just lead to the deaths of innocents and actually resolve nothing that a good discussion wouldn't possibly sort. There are many wars between countries taking place at the moment that do not involve the West.

You may choose to ignore how Putin made his money but he certainly won't be living in a 2 up 2 down when he retires that's for sure.handshake
well,Gyp,you can always relocate to one of those Free Countries, like Putin's Russia,or Xi's PRC,plentyful N-Korea,or any of those other Countries! No one is holding you here in the west!
Might teach you a lesson, and stop you from constantly pissing on the West!very mad
If Adolph and Joseph had a Son,they would have named him Vladimir!

Might want to read this as well,to get a bit of perspective on your Hero!

Keep dreaming on old times which has served you most likely. Being captive of the platonic cave is understandable and a well known problem of those who can`t get out of their belief system.

And I am sorry, I am neither a Putinist nor a hater of the West in terms of socialisation or freedoms. But streamlined conformity as curently promoted and fostered istn the future as well. Western dominion is over and multipolarity will overtake if you like it or not.
The West has very well threatened nuclear warfare. You dont need to name it directly if you put weapon system into the game which can deliver nuclear warheads.

And again, you can`t piss on the leg of a superpower. No one of them let this happen. And Russophobia isnt a solution either.

When Putin hold his speech at the Munich security conference in 2008 he always said clearly and bright not to piss in his garden. If the Westernelites dont want to understand because of their aspirations to share parts of the huge landmasses than Russia has naturally something against it.

I dont see any contradiction with this logic, neither pro or anti Russian. It is just the condition of a superpower. and those who dont take it serious forgot about the devastating consequences of nuclear war. Thats all and in my opinion it should be a very good reason for everyone in this world not to support any developments which may lead to Armageddon.

Putin a billionaire? who cares really?? What about the hundreds of other billionaires who have collected their wealth at the costs of others? But at least Putin cares for his country, which many Western countries cant claim for themself. Look how the economy in the US is completly dependent on the financial bubble. Look to UK look to the EU ... look at Germany where the US has just sabotaged the strategic energy infrastructure etc ...

Any sanctions have just not effected anything. And BTW unilateral sanctions are clear violations of Intl law as long not greenlighted by the UN etc.
So you really don't care about Putin's ill-gotten gains as long as he remains the President as he's really doing a fantastic job.wow An election that was so fixed no-one else stood a chancewow A despot that cares not about how many young Russians die as long as he wins the battle.

Don't bother me with any more rhetoric about the West and how corrupt we are ,just pack a bag and move to Russia as I'm sure you'll feel a lot safer and happier there.

wave
Sure, thats typical. If no arguments are avaialable than platitudes are used.

I remain against hegemony and Western war mongers without being Putinist and fore sure Democracy 2.0 is long overdue in the West.
Yes. We see many at thing in the same way Gypman.
I didn't read what you guys been back n forth about but Putin is much better than his reputation here in the west spewed by western msm propaganda. When I was young propaganda was synonymious with the USSR. My father even called it the land of lies. Now we are just as bad if not worse.
How could we sink to this level?!
Anyhows, they can't fool me.

beer
So where is your argument as to how Putin became so richdoh Oh sorry I remember now ,you don't care that it is through corruption and deceit.Typical .

Do you honestly believe Russia is a democracy?

Under Putin’s rule, Russian policy has considerably hardened both domestically and internationally. It has gone from a mixture of oligarchy, democracy, and anarchy to a regime of autocracy with some fascist features, and from an effort to imitate and join the West to a verbal aggressiveness towards the United States and the U.K.and an effort to reassert Russia’s domination over its former empire. The political system in Russia is built around one man .........Putin who took Russia down a dark path 2 years ago.
