Most useful things in your household…

…might turn out to be something else, than you hoped they’d be during the acquisition.

For me it’s an alpaca poncho in winter – soft, light, very warm and comforting – rather expensive…

…and a fly swatter during the summer: serves faithfully and fearlessly, cost pittance.

Those, claiming that you can’t buy happiness for money, are just misinformed :)

I was gonna say the fly whacker but you did before me... so what else, oh I have one age old dinosurus of a computer I soon will get sat up that I can play good old panzergeneral 1 and 2 on it again :)
My swatters are well used here.
Looks like buying some fly-swatter-manufacturer shares would be a good idea :)
Not that I come across flies often at home but odourless fly spray any day over those germ riddled fly squatters laugh

Fancy running around whacking flies..Sorry but I just can't stop laughing at the thought of people running around squatting flies..Then splat..YUK!~
Lovely; a poncho made from an Alpaca for winter; a fly swatter for summer...sounds as if you live in a Yurt, in the arctic tundra of either Siberia or on the seacoast of the Barents Sea...Must be lovelylaugh
To Mercedes:

Well, people ARE misinformed.

1. Running around is a good exercise in our sedentary world cheering
2. Another win: germs might contribute to biodiversity in your gut. cheering cheering

And even if they don’t, still better than inhaling insecticide, odourless or otherwise.
It totally is, Condor007
To Mercedes:

A fly swatter is sterile comparing to a mobile phone laugh
But merc its so satisfying when they splat all over the window.
My oldest Nokia mobile...
I am sure it will achieve the antique value someday laugh laugh
Your heirs will be grateful, Tanzilla :)
And you know Tule what's the best part of it !!

It will probably still be in working condition even by then !! wow

Nokia .. The real Unbreakable rolling on the floor laughing
I'm sure it'll work, Tanz. Changing the battery will be another matter, as it's unopenable as well :)
The fridge
banana cheering cheering one less to sting me.
But flies can be incredibly irritating Tule!mumbling
If you swot one and leave it the other flies eat it and its possible to swot a few at once rolling on the floor laughing
The swattered ones are totally harmless. And I doubt that Felidae are affected much by flies anyway. Fleas on the other side...
Mine are used to it they just object to the sound.
I used to use a clear plastic ruler for swatting flies, 'cause they couldn't see it coming, plus there was no wind drag so it was swift and deadly. grin
That's the amazing thing Tule !! wow
The battery never dies !!!

Last time I checked after almost 3 years interval , it was perfectly charging still... wow

And overall it's almost 10 years old !!! Bought in 2011 conversing
Do you kill them with the longer side or with the short one, Ged? Oh, wait, of course with the point!!! And I'm sure, you hit them between their eyes.

Note to self: assault from the dead angle... must learn that amazing technique.
Well, Tanzi, my Nokia is slightly older and the battery is stone dead. I keep it anyway of sentimental reasons :)
Op-la! While I's composing my answer to Tanzila, they logged me off and declared stone dead, as a Nokia battery. Wonders of internet laugh
Water spigot, toilet, refrigerator, microwave, shower & front door.
Shower in the front door frame would be a real killer, Jim! Imagine: a lady rings the bell and you open it in a shower-ready mode. daydream
Usually, I prefer them wet in the bedroom, rather than at the front door. laugh
Well... I wouldn't risk granting her any time, one needs walking from front and to bed, to tell you more about yourself laugh
Um..... they usually know me very well, before they come over.
Indeed, the first few times are usually at her place. head banger
