Switzerland Legalizes Growing Cannabis At Home
In order to combat the increasing illegal sales of cannabis in Switzerland, four of the seven Swiss cantons (similar to states in the U.S.) will be allowing individuals to grow four cannabis plants at their home, starting in January 2012. The cannabis is only authorized for personal use and cannot be sold. The cantons involved are Geneva, Neuchatel, Vaud (Lausanne) and Fribourg - People can apply for permits to grow more than four plants.
Would this be a good piece of legislation or not? Would you want the same in your country?

Is Swiss dagga as good as Swiss chocolate?
what? 10? you're gonna be in trouble
I think I know there is a province in my country that grows cannabis for personal use and the people sometime add it to their ingredients of food
It's a huge issue in our country, with entire fields, that were once planted with agricultural crops; now being planted with the drug!
I know many people claim medicinal benefits - but plant 10 tons!
In the Netherlands cannabis and growing it for personal use has been legal for ages and I never saw the harm in it.
However, these days, the stuff that is grown by professionals is extremely strong and comparable or even mixed with hard drugs. I wouldn't like to see hard drugs legalized, since they do a lot of harm.
Also, maybe because we are a small country with no place for any fields, the tendency is to make synthetic weed, which is really bad.
It's sold cheaply and it already killed several people, mostly teenagers trying.
Very bad development IMO
El, cannabis
Problem lies in developing countries, where because of the enormous profits these drugs generate; are quickly adopted by cartels, mafia & even crooked government officials.
The local villagers are actually forced into replacing their staple crops for these drugs and then become party to the supply chain!
Happy Holidays El
Lach, that's a great Christmas day. To spend it with the people you love. You are a wonderful Aunt to give them your time to catch up with them. Did they got presents from their sweet Aunt Lachi?

In order to combat the increasing illegal sales of cannabis in Switzerland, four of the seven French-speaking Swiss cantons (similar to states in the U.S.) will be allowing individuals to grow four cannabis plants at their home, starting in January 2012. The cannabis is only authorized for personal use and cannot be sold.
The cantons involved are Geneva, Neuchatel, Vaud (Lausanne) and Fribourg, according to this article (in French, see translation here). People can apply for permits to grow more than four plants.
We here at The 420 Times fully expect this new law to reduce crime and police expenses in Switzerland, and everywhere else this kind of progressive thinking comes to pass.
If four plants sounds a bit restrictive, remember two things: first, it’s still illegal to do this in most of the world (thanks to U.S. government intervention in everyone else’s business) and second, a properly done grow can yield some pretty spectacular results: (see the video of the cannabis)
I know Shay's @ work!
