I think it's great that we have all these non-English speaking people on this site trying as hard as they can to communicate with us. I only wished that I wasn't so lazy so I could learn to speak other languages. It is cute when Shay, Lachica and the other girls speak in their native languages to each other.

I speak and write Spanish but to some difficult degree since I was born here and, of course, English is my primary language. Again, I'm just too lazy to learn more accurately so I depend on the computer for translation help.
Ed..I'm Weird,I can read a lot of foreign langueges but not speak much of them, but a bit of training could help!!!! confused

@ Parti: I don't think it's weird that you don't know other languages. I think most of us don't! With me it's called "single irresponsible man" syndrome because I never seem to get around to doing anything but Salsa dancing and fishing and not necessarily in that order. Hey, us guys have perogatives too!!!!
Thank you Daniel. applause

It has been an amazing experience to be here and share some of our way of living in our own country, esp our language. English taught at school in the Phils, from the first grade until whenever. It is not easy to learn a foreign language but we are trying to. We have a lot more to learn. If I have a chance in the future I'll be happy to learn more language, say Spanish, French or Japanese, etc.
@ Daniel : English is my third languages laugh But your welcome. grin
One of the most beautiful things I witnessed one afternoon were 2 small children, a brother and sister, playing together and speaking English. Watching over them was Grandma. Though, the children who were no more than 4 to 6 years old with Grandma they spoke only in Japanese. Then it was right back to English with each other.

Children are just absolutely amazing. peace
Sadest...Thats Nice !!bouquet wine
I leanred several foreign languages and I find that English is the easiest to learn. I suppose that's why it has become American national language (although German ancestry makes the largest number there) and international language nowadays.

Best wishes, danielangelvega.
I agree with Vyoleta, I only think Italian is even easier. Bulgarian is quite tough so you all are fortunate it's not a global language laugh
@Parti - I'm kind of like that too. I can read French and have an idea of what is being said. Although my knowledge of French is limited (2 years in high school and a semester of a French in college @ the 200 level), I can figure out some Spanish. I know a few words in Japanese and Swahili but don't ask me to write it. I'm going to try to learn some Portuguese for when I go to Brazil next year. Even if it's something as simple as "Do you speak English," "Hello," "Goodbye," "Thank you," etc. I figure that it's always good to make an attempt to learn the language of whatever country you are visiting...even if it's a little bit. I know that my pronunciation will be way off. I mean, do you know how funny it sounds for a southern girl (southeastern US) to speak in another language.

What's funny about learning English is that when people learn to speak English...it tends to be Oxford English and not American English. But when you speak to an American we know what you're trying to say. It may take us a minute to get what you are trying to say (because there are some differences - of course, we all know that). I guess the differences would be like the differences between the Portuguese spoken in Portugal and Brazil, etc.
Thank you Daniel. I used to live near Round Rock, and in Pflugerville, Texas north of Austin I think, in the late 80s.
