Women and cars

Are women really hopeless when comes to car maintenance? I know I'm one of them. I know little about maintenance. I don't even know how to change car tyres. I experienced flat tyres twice. What I did the first time was to call my brother. He came to change the tyre. grin

The second time was on my way to work and I heard a bursting sound but didn't know it was the tyre. Upon reaching my working place, I noticed the tyre was real flat. I panicked. Who could help me changed the tyre? dunno I saw a colleague's husband and asked him to help me with the tyre.

Most men know their cars so well and they can even repair their own cars. It's like the natural thing to do.

When it's time to service my car, I'll just send it to the workshop and pay the mechanic.

I know plumbing too, self-taught. drinking
Hi, I think many women get ripped off by unscrupulous service station owners. Have heard many a tale by women that went for a 'second opinion' and found that the service or repair was done at a fraction of the price quoted by the first.conversing
Hello Honey. Myself, when it comes to cars... now, with today's technology, I am completely lost. I don't own a car now and haven't for 40 years although I kept my licence up until 5 years ago. I think that you will find that technology has leveled the field a great deal between men/women when it comes to fixing cars. Gone are the self-made male " fix it myself " doers. Although I can really only speak for myself. wave wave hug
I would like to start a workshop directed at wimms only.
With as many female mechanics as possible and females in
customer service. handshake

OOOPS sowi
hello honeybzz, i believe girls, love great looking sporty cars, just as much as men, but when it comes to getting oil, in our hair, or dirt under our well manacured nails, we tend to give this a miss, the greasy parts of the car, are just not a girl thing.
Morgenluv...awesome idea. I will be your first customer!
I know absolutely nothing about fixing cars. But I have a great mechanic.

I do know the basic things like changing oil, keeping the fluid levels up and air maintenance but that's about it.
morgenulv , good idea. When you start a workshop, we ladies will definately be your customers provided you've to give us discount. Plumbing is another skill that not many people can do, not even the men.
Stony , I do agree with you about being ripped off by the unscrupulous service station owStners. My mechanic is honest . Recommended to me by my brother. I'm not worried being ripped off. The service is good and reasonable.

Hahahha...your van? Has it ever given you problem?
Springlark , now with the advance of technology, the cars are more complicated than before. When the cars give problems, at times, the only solution is send to the mechanics and they will do the scanning to find the problems. Once my car gave me problem and ordinary workshop could not detect the problem. Had to send it to a shop that has a special computer which can scan and detect the problem. Sigh...quite expensive.
Ed1941, I dont even know how to change oil. And I always forget to check my car battery. I send my car for service only 3 times a year. thumbs down
