did I do the right thing?
The other day I went to buy some chewing gum and chocolates, the seller was Moroccan and at that time was praying. Firstly, I asked him for some chocolates and he ignored me, he kept praying, total, after waiting about 30 seconds,I decided to go to the store was in front of his kiosk. I amazed by his attitude, I think he should stopped praying to earn some money.... do you think these are ways of behaving?..what would you have done if you were in my case?waiting until he finish his prayer? or doing what I did.........

their god in peace. Never interrupt a person in the state of praying. Be patient.
I agree with Becca, he shold close the kiosk or pray at home in his free time not at work.
If strictly religious Muslims put prayer before work can they be doctors, nurses, emergency workers etc who have to respond to emergency situations ahead of their personal needs ?
Disredpect to what you understand or don t understand=
Why make an issue about him praying?
God don't hate person like me, i think he apreciate me more when i honest.
however, commerce and religion should be be connected anyway (in my humble opinion)
SHOULD NOT BE..
sorry..
vino night !!
why do I have to accept his position? what about mine?...
Thank you everybody for your comments.....
It amazers me how people think the world should revolve around them and there needs and wants..
I refer to me what would i do in this case and that God wont hate me if i make my prayer in 5 minutes later Lol!! with the dors closed and say i'll be back in 5 minutes.
Marijo....yes, in my opinion you did the right thing. No service at one place (for whatever reason) you go somewhere they will serve you!!
So if religion disturbs the business it's his loss. when you work with clients, especially shops etc the firm working time is very important. Cause one the clients get that they can't rely on some strict working time they won't go there. Cause the time is precious and people need to plan it so they wan't to use the services of reliable shops, offices etc.
You should respect his needs and you did.
You should attend to your own needs and you did.
He should respect your needs and he did not.
> Okay, he had his own needs to attend to but like Sur and others have noted a "Be back in 5 minutes" sign or something to indicate (for any who do not know his customs) that he needs to pause to attend to his prayers (without interruption, it seems) and about how long they might need to wait would be considerate.
Now... If it his establishment ... I suppose he can offer service or not as he wishes ... and customers can go elsewhere if they wish.
Keeping the right proportions, I guess that Americans will have a similar reaction, when visiting some small town in Spain or Mexico at the time, meal and nap, and suddenly, they, they encounter all the businesses closed.
In the retail industry the customers needs out weigh the needs of the staff, if a customer comes into the shop and you are not already serving another customer then they are your priority.
Stop trying to provoke me with your belif in God, i belif too so end of discussion.
You say ....
"It amazers me how people think the world should revolve around them and there needs and wants".
Are you talking about the shopkeeper or the customer ?.....
I agree with NotNed.
and if it is Muslim custom to pray 5 times a day at specific times, than I say, you respect their culture. Does anyone know how long they pray for???? I would understand closing down the shop if it was like 10 minutes or more. That might be a good idea.
Nah, the customer..
