My Hispanic Roots
Reviewing a blog I found some references to someone's Hispanic roots. I thought to share with you what I believe is to be Latino, Latin American, Spanish speaking.First a true Latin knows he isnt better or worse than anyone. He does not seek to outdo others but to be better each day based on effort and dedication never humiliating or attacking those who think differently.
Being Latin American, is to feel our traditions in the blood. Is to understand the diversity of cultures that allowed the development of your own, our own. Is to share many of the ideals and thoughts ranging from Ecuador to the Mayan Riviera, so it is to have a deep commitment of love dignity and respect for our people.
Is to be supportive and optimistic. It is to laugh heartily and not succumb to the more difficult scenarios. Is to feel the music is in our hearts, to have very good rhythm to dance and dance even when your feet, hands and soul are tired from the effort because you know that is the opportunity to live with ideals.
Is to value family and the wisdom that comes with age. Is to make friends everywhere and to treasure boxes and boxes of beloved memories.
Is to have home remedies for everything and be able always to savor a delicious homemade food, colors and flavors that come in large part of our unique wildlife.
It is to be passionate, intelligent, witty, creative and simple enough to recognize and respect different points of view.
Being Latin is to be born in this vast continent that has a wonderfully rich language: Spanish. An American Indian culture, a poly ethnic race that sing, write, read, pray, create, invent, work, struggle and feel a deep pride of being free, independent, courageous, intelligent and talented.
