Is it too difficult?
Tolerance is the ability to listen and accept others, valuing the different ways of understanding life, is not only the respect and consideration for the difference, but the willingness to admit a different way of being and acting.This concept as reasonable and simple to understand is not easy to apply in real life. We see that clearly on this site. Although I must admit there are exceptions, most of the times when I read a blog here I find not only negative comments, but humiliating and hurtful words. It seems like we want to prove not only we are right but to destroy the dignity of another person in the process of showing how mistaken they are. Simple comments or jokes become pitched battles where there are many insults and rudeness just to win an argument. In my opinion, since most of us are looking for a romantic relationship, good friends or just nice company, we should direct our energy to share our ideas and aspirations always offering the best of us. Is it too difficult?

As always, the good old balance is the best... But we humans are too imperfect to maintain it all the time. Even in nature there are storms and sunny days... All in all, I prefer honest people and opinions than some sugar-covered hypocrisy.
If we agree all the time it would be unnatural.
I advocate fighting if disagreements occur.
Then moving on without holding resentments.
I advocate what is attainable,not a pipe dream as you ask.
I just think strong points and "normal" arguments are starting being demonized here. This way soon we will be frozen/locked in a peaceful tolerant CS group hug...
I hesitate to wonder what kind of a sanitized world you live in?
Is it a world where everyone is "polite?" where everyone engages in a collective group hug?
It appears to me that you have a very naive,childlike view of reality.
I'm sick of some of the crybaby CS wimps on here.

I do treat my friends and others with respect. The problem is my style is not pallatable to everyone's plate.
I debate with vigor. And some people cry because they lose the debate.
A kinder,gentler Cyber would be boring..is that what you want?
I am now in a similar position but, I have just recently met my partner also from CS.
