TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT
It will never happen to me. It’s a rotten country. Oh, people in the world are sick. How could they do that to a child?Does this sound familiar? We have gotten so used to thinking that everything happens to others and not to us that it shocks us when something happens to us.
I received a “please-call-me” from one of the family children last week. I thought that they are a bother. A couple of minutes later my niece called me with the worst news ever. I closed my office door and started crying to God. Asking Him why?
Terrible news strikes us. We always think its going to happen to others. But if everyone thinks of it that way, then who are the others?
They are us and we are them. If we constantly say it will not happen to us, who is it going to happen to?
Maybe we should start thinking that it could happen to us. That way we would be able to prevent bad things from happening to us, because it would scare us too much.
Sit and think about it and come up with you own answer. We take advice from many, but we still decide what we want to do.
