“LONELINESS AND THE FEELING OF BEING UNWANTED IS THE MOST TERRIBLE POVERTY”MOTHER TERESA
Being alone I can stand, it is being lonely that scares me to death. I hate that feeling of seclusion, where it seems that even in the company of many you are invisible. Sometimes you are in a crowd and supposed to be having fun, but you’re still lonely. To me it feels like people see you, but they don’t recognize you. As if you are a stranger that they just ignore.
Sometimes the feeling of loneliness is not so much related to what people do, but rather how you feel about yourself. People who suffer from eating disorders ‘think’ they are overweight, be we don’t think so. I always maintained that perception is truth. Whatever it is that you perceive to be true, it is.
If the feeling of loneliness is coupled with that of feeling unwanted, which more often than not, is the case, we seem to crumble and cringe inwardly. It’s such a lonely road to travel.
You know that thing when you are not in a relationship, no one seems to notice you, but as soon as you get involved with someone, you suddenly get attention from a lot of suitors. Damn Murphy!!
When these two feelings combine it is such a blow to one’s esteem and the emptiness can be unbearable.
