Official Languages
I live in a country with 11 official language. (South Affrica, one can only but love it.... )One would expect that I should at least be able to greet in a few of those 11 official languagesAs luck would have it, I appear to be "linguistically challenged"
Communicating in other languages besides my home tongue, tends to leave me all tongue tied . . . a blithering idiot
English: Good Morning / Good Afternoon / Good Evening
Afrikaans: Goeie More / Goeie Middag / Goeie Naand
...that just about covers my skills with regards to languages of a different persuasion:
Does anybody here now how to greet in any other languages?
Name the language and the morning, noon and evening greeting
(I sure hope I can learn something here .... )

Here in NZ we have 2 official languages. English and Maori
Maori say "Kia Ora" for both Good Morning and Good Afternoon but for Good Evening they say "Po marie"
Kia pai to ra - Have a nice day
Ohh and did the Bok's get beaten on the weekend
BTW: if the boks weren't beated, I'll set that straight, right away
French terms
Bonjour- Good morning & afternoon
Bonsoir- Good evening
Salut- Hi, Hello
I should have remembered those.
Thanks for jogging my memory there
Selamat pagi (01:00-10:00)
Selamat siang (10:00-15:00)
Selamat sore (15:00-18:00)
Selamat malam (18:00-01:00)
I think in German you said, "Guten Tag" for greetings in the morning and in the afternoon. "Guten Abend" to be said in the evening time. In southern part of Germany, you will likely to hear "Gruss Gott" which is valid to be said the whole day and in northern part of Germany is "Moin, moin". Correct me if I am wrong.
So, Selamat pagi, cofy and have a good day
Kai ora
