Girls vs Boys

I've always been told that you raise boys differently from the way you raise girlsdunno

I'm not sure why that would be soconfused
I raised two girls, both of them are strong, goal orientated,
independent thinkers, determined and capable of handling any situation.smitten

Now I have a grandson, whom I half to help raising
(his mom does shift work) love smitten love

Am I supposed to rear him differently from the way I raised my girls???

And if so HOWconversing

dont worry about it , just let him be himself and he will turn out great wave
we are who we are from birth ,and even tho we know whats right or wrong and will try to make them better than we are or do we just let them make their own mistakes angel
cofyminx hi ..if you had fulltime care then i think the decision would be really up to you ..but is this a baby sitting type situration? have you spoken to the mum? how does she feel about you adopting the same princpals to him as you have done to your daughters?hope i help in sum small way handshake

I am sure that you already love him enough. But, you, as a grandmother can play with your grandchildren more than you could with your own children, I suppose, because you have more time for it now. Playing with him will show you what attitude to accept towards raising him.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Just don't put girlie clothes on him! A lot of folk tend to do that, why? I don't know...grin doh wine
Just make him stand by the seat not sit on it dunno If you get me, All kids respond to a grandmothers love, which you have in abundanceteddybear
* some special advice and education
Virgo,I tend to agree with you . . . their personalities are pretty strong from birth
With the girls I immediately knew I couldn't treat them the same, each needed to be handled differentlycheers
Market, that is part of the problem . . .not that she objects to my method . . . but I WANT her to be making the decisions, but I can't adopt ALL of her methods without reserve . . .in some ways we differ, but at the end of the day hers is the final say (I'm not quite used to that)roll eyes
Parti, I KNOW your mother raised no fool....doh

Now Just repeat after me . . .

YES DEAR grin

kiss
Vyoletta, that would have been the idealinnocent

Just being the dotting grangrin

Unfortunately I tend to spend more time with him than she does
so I can't just drop the reigns and let it all ride until she is free to implement her rulesbouquet

But Elmo, he's such a pretty boy, surly just a few idems would be okayuh oh
Redexthumbs up

Thanks, that is something we need to be more aware of.
He is still in training, but I guess they're never too young to be taught the right way to do thingsbouquet
Ariel, thumbs up we are in agreement on those issues.
I try not to make comparisons between the girls.
Treating them different but equal really.

I just don't like the thing of "Boys will be boys" because sometimes they see it as a licence to do things which are absolutely NOT acceptable, but at the same time creating the balance where they have the freedom to explorebouquet
Parti, just keep both hands infront of you ....

like thispeace
Lazly, yes I do; and I'd also paint not only the living-room
walls but the whole house - inside and out - with him!
smile
He he! your sweet Sur but me i am not crazy about kids maybe when they are very little but beside that nah!

If i see him painting my walls i will keel his father. laugh
that because is expencive to renovate again the walls and also take time and work wave
Laz, precisely why I'd show'im the proper procedures!
Sur, that sounds like the ALMOST perfect dadthumbs up hug

With SOME exceptionsroll eyes that is what I would like for him too . . .Can we hire you to come spend some time with himgrin
Lazly he fools others into thinking he is the sweetest little angel, until he is alone with us . . .sigh

Thats when the little minx pulls out his bag of trickswow smitten love

I don't think there is a thing which he does which is not recordedgrin
