What is trending in India right now?

A glance at the emerging social trends of urban India.

1. Chauffeur on demand.

It is more cost-effective and economical than hiring a full-time one.

2. After samba comes sam!

For the past couple of years self-arranged marriages is getting increasingly popular with the urban youth residing in metropolitan cities ( delhi, mumbai, chennai, and kolkata ). SAM takes the positive aspects of dating and love / arranged marriages and rejects the negative aspects of them. It is better ( more conclusive / goal-oriented and no "friend zone" trap ) than traditional dating as both the parties are sure of each other's intentions. We all know that connectingsingles is one of the rare dating sites which lists marriage as an option in user profiles. And SAM is different from traditional arranged marriages as the entire process ( from searching to decision making ) is conducted by the consenting parties only ie the would be bride and the groom. SAM starts from head and ends in heart. Now what does that mean? Here the boy and the girl register themselves in specialized dating sites ( similar to eharmony sans the questionnaire and only meant for those who are ready for marriages ) and begin the hunt in a scientific manner - as we all know that love is blind and we often take the wrong decision when in love. Once the boy and the girl find each other's profiles interesting, they meet at a coffee shop or some other convenient place. And if the first meeting is fruitful they started dating each other for a period of six to nine months ( statistical average / middle part of the bell curve ). This is the time when hearts take over heads. Both the parties test the emotional compatibilities. If it is a win-win situation they mutually agree to go ahead and inform the parents about their decision. And if something is wrong ( potentially incompatible ) they part as friends and start afresh - ie the process is recursive.

3. Online fresh vegetables, meat / fish, and fruits buying.

It is still at a nascent stage as the players are cautious and do not want to end up like webvan ( now resurrected as amazonfresh ), and can be found in only a handful of cities ( delhi, mumbai, bengaluru, hyderabad, chennai, pune, kolkata ), but immensely popular with the net-savvy working class - who do not have the time to go to hypermarkets and hate serpentine queues.
