Crazy World Of Skin Colour

Some dark-skinned people seek to lighten their skin colour
By applying skin creams to make themselves fairer
Most of those creams have some chemical matter
That can cause serious health problems later
Their use is common in countries like India
Where beauty and fair skin tone go together
Girls are encouraged to avoid too much exposure
To the sunshine which can make their skins darker

But some white-skinned people who are born fairer
Are not satisfied with their natural skin colour
And wilfully seek more sunshine exposure
To get a tan and make themselves darker
For them a skin that is darkened looks better
And is more beautiful than their natural colour
Yet, for white people, sunshine overexposure
Can lead to a deadly form of skin cancer

Some animals like to wallow in muddy water
Which when dried can change their outer colour
This serves as a temperature regulator
And keeps off skin pests of one form or another
Animals do not seek to change their skin colour
To consciously make themselves fairer or darker
Such weird action is purely human in nature
In this crazy world of people's skin colour

@Socrates..... I agree!! some people will put their health at risk just to make themself look good.dunno confused
That people disdain the color of their own skin is sad and is undeniably a result of societal bias. Skin color is nature's way of enabling people to survive in the climate from which they (or their families or even their distant relatives) originate.

Skin color is just skin color. Nothing more; nothing less.
Thank you, GoDaniel, for your comment. I suppose that's a form of vanity. Have a nice day!
Thank you, chame1eon, for your sensible comment. I could not help but wonder at your user name and the appropriateness of your comment. Have a colourful day!
My frist days on the Island I Always take a sand bath to take off the dead skin and over here going to the Spa I take a mud bath after that sit in the Sun for 2 hours with oil on my body.
Its not only in India I have seen this happening on the Island and orther plaqces.
Thank you, FlyJames, for your comment. My blog said "...in countries like India" implying that there are other countries also. Have a wonderful day!
Human nature.. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence
Thank you, Infamous, for your comment. It really makes one wonder who defines human beauty. As I said, the animals must certainly have a good laugh at our expense.
Have a great day!

Thank you Socrates For Sharing Your Insights on Skin Color!

Melanin the pigment of skin color is in every other cell in the body is essential to our brains, nerves and organs for life!

In humans, melanin is the primary determinant of skin and hair color. However, few people know that melanin is found in almost every organ of the body and is necessary for the brain and nerves to operate, the eyes to see, and the cells to reproduce.

It is also found in the stria vascularis of the inner ear. In the brain, tissues with melanin include the medulla and pigment-bearing neurons within areas of the brainstem, such as the locus coeruleus and the substantia nigra. It also occurs in the zona reticularis of the adrenal gland.

Melanin is Superior Protection Against The Effects of Ultraviolet Radiation

Exposure to the sun has the potential to cause premature aging of the skin, as well as various skin cancers. Your ability to withstand the potentially damaging effects of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation depends on the amount of melanin in your skin, which is determined by the number of melanocytes that are active beneath the surface of your skin.

Melanin: The Organizing Molecule

Dr. Frank Barr, pioneering discoverer of melanin’s organizing ability and other properties, theorizes in his technical work, Melanin: The Organizing Molecule:

“The hypothesis is advanced that (neuro)melanin (in conjunction with other pigment molecules such as the isopentenoids) functions as the major organizational molecule in living systems.

Melanin is depicted as an organizational “trigger” capable of using established properties such as photon- (electron)- photon conversions, free radical-redox mechanism, ion exchange mechanisms, ion exchange mechanisms, and semiconductive switching capabilities to direct energy to strategic molecular systems and sensitive hierarchies of protein enzyme cascades. Melanin is held capable of regulating a wide range of molecular interactions and metabolic processes…”

Melanin is an effective absorber of light; the pigment is able to dissipate more than 99.9% of absorbed UV radiation. In even the most light-skinned people, the body’s melanocytes respond to sun exposure by producing more melanin, which creates the effect known as tanning. However, there is a limit to the degree of protection that melanin can provide, and it’s significantly higher in people with naturally darker skin.

Melanin causes Younger-Looking Skin ,not bleaching it white!

Exposure to the sun has the potential to cause premature aging of the skin. Darkly pigmented people tend to exhibit less signs of aging.

Dermatologist Susan C. Taylor, author of “Brown Skin,” points out that Blacks and other people of color generally look younger than their lighter-skinned peers because of the higher levels of melanin in their skin.

The increased melanin protects those who have it from short-term damage from the sun, as well as the long-term signs of aging, such as age spots, deep wrinkles and rough texture, according to Taylor.

The bottom line is Love The Skin You Are In!
