To convert or not to convert

I am a Roman Catholic. The rest of my family that I live with are Evangelicals. They are my parents so I am banned from the Roman Catholic church. When religious freedom goes out the window...Now they are trying very hard to convert me to their way of thinking. I can't adapt to their belief system. So what should I do?

What are they trying to convert you to?
why you have no freedom in religion? that is you absolute right...
So far I know there is no compulsion in religion....
if I may advise you, you follow your heart and your belief...
I dont understand that you were banned from your own church...
I would just drink, sorry so I not any help drinking

super
@gentlejim they are trying to convert me to become an Evangelical.
@ butterflies I would love to do the same thing. I would love to just drink and get drunk. But I am not the boss of the house lolhehe and such drinking is not permitted. So it is pure torture.

Others cannot dictate what you believe in...no matter what...believe in what you want...sounds like quite the conundrum...no easy way out...bouquet
True conversion can only come about through freedom of choice/will. One can not force anyone to truly convert. Jesus Christ never forced anyone to follow Him. It would be outward appearances only.

I would tell them honestly how you feel and ask for their support and prayer to choose. God does not want your forced conversion to any religion. Neither should they. bouquet
@loulou yes it is quite the calamity. I am thinking pretend conformity. But for how long can I pretend.
@calm heart I have tried all of those things. But I am up against fundamentalists...and it is convert or move out and since I have nowhere to move out too because I don't have a job...it is quite the calamity.

Under the circumstances...you pretty much have to fake it until you secure your future...what a shame though that others are forcing you to take sides...
Tell them your a grown woman, start acting like one. Your small micro conundrum shows exactly why religious belief systems are a major problem.
get stoned and think about it I am sure you will come out with something and then follow your heart
@ Thondae - As all religions are invented by man to control the populance, does it REALLY matter what brain-washing sect you belong to..... dunno

Maybe you could pick the one that takes the least of your money.... thumbs up ..... frustrated frustrated

...... cool comfort sigh
@ LJ Thanks for asking and no, not to much to ask at all...will address this privately later...am out and using my phone, a little difficult to write a proper reply...angel
Thondae, you are 31 years old according to your profile.

You are an adult, old enough to be independent, so if you don't like the way your parents want you to live, move out and live your own life.

Simples wine
@ LJ...I tried to privately reply to your question but unfortunately my mail couldn't get through..teddybear
follow your insticts ,they are correct
Thanks for all the comments. It would have been easier to move out if I had a job and some money. Plus I developed a chronic disease. And so I just can't move out. Yea I need to get stoned.lololhhhee.
I have decided that they can ban me from the church building but they can't ban me from praying. Even though they told me not to say any Catholic prayer... I will still pray.
shave your had and tell everyone that you`re a member of the"Hare Krishna movement"
Don't let yourself to be a prisoner, to captivate your mind with your family disaers to be what they want you to be;chose to be yourself.bouquet
personally I have a "god" or whatever folks call their higher power... I believe in him and he loves me. I am very comfortable with that... and I am even more comfortable that I don't have a title that I refer to as my religion... which works for me because when I go to heaven ill be the only one standing in my line....
wave How would one convert from Christian to Christian?dunno
Go bi spiritual. I have and it works. If your family questions you are criticises you ask them to reference their judgement on you from the bible. If they can just say mmm interesting opinion I ll have to think about that. You can also quote back to them one of the many passages in the new testament about not judging others.
Were your parents catholic before they became Evangelicals? How did you become catholic? I think the way to go is to tell your parents nicely that you don't want to discuss the issue. Just say that you will think about it and let them know if and when you're ready... just ask them to respect your wish to have time to think... and then take all the time you want laugh wink
