I am not saying goodbye yet,
but for two months I have been confined to home with this silly busted ankle and my only boredom cure has been the Internet. Gosh I love being able to open multiple tabs so I can blog on 3 or more websites at once. I have also greatly enjoyed my two months of being on CS a dozen (or more hours a day) every day of the past two months. From time to time it has been very entertaining. I (virtually) met some brand new folks, some very nice ones too, and also renewed acquaintance with some old ones from years gone by. Sure there are also some worthless (my word) persona on blogs and forums, but generally speaking many are entertaining writers with good blogs. There is even some good stuff in the forums.
Sadly some good ones are gone. Some long gone and they vanished while I was having a serious relationship and gone, others more recently just vanished virtually in front of me in these past few weeks.
As one can imagine being confined to my house more or less 24/7 was fairly boring. My cats have been useful diversions as they always want something. I am allowed to go places of course, but in the beginning days with a cast and crutches, that was no fun. Shopping for groceries that way was both an intellectual challenge and a test of balance. I found an old duffle bag I could sling around my neck. Empty in the grocery cart, after checking out at the cashier, the bags would be stuffed into the duffle bag, it slung around my neck, and out to the car I would lurch on my crutches.
I am happy to report I only had about a month of that before being upgraded to a removable boot and a cane. LoL, I must be getting ready for old age as now I own two of the mandatory possessions that mark old fogies. Crutches and a cane. All I will need is all day disposable men's diapers and my old folk uniform will be complete.
Another diversion has been renting DVD movies from a Redbox nearby. Saw one today I truly got some giggles out of. A Million Ways To Die In The West. If you watch it, don't forget to just keep watching after The End flows across the screen. More dying to come. Giggle.
Where am I going with this? Well in only a few days more than 1 more week I will return to the doctor. I expect him to certify me as being ready to return to earning an income (i.e., work). Alas when back to work I go, my time online will be greatly reduced.
Do I know where I will work or what I will do? Nope. No clue. Sure the former job is still there. I am not thrilled with that though. Before my accident I complained the work environment was unsafe. LoL, they already knew that because the average time between 'lost workday injuries' according to the big signs posted there, was about 4 days. Normal places have signs saying 3567 days, or something like that. Not that one though. I once saw it climb up to 8, before falling to 1. LoL The day of my accident, it was at 4. No doubt 1 again the day after. Anyway, I am not keen on the idea of going back and being one of the unlucky guys who has tweaked the signs more than once. We had one there who was averaging 1 workplace injury every 2 years. He'd been there about 20 years and has a limp in a leg and another in the hip on the other side and he is missing some fingers too. So a lot of my online time has been spent sending out resumes when not reading stuff here on CS. Let us hope something comes through for me.
