Divorce in America just got even easier

A NY Judge has opined that due to the difficulty of finding an absent husband, it shall be sufficient for her to simply message his Face Book page with word of a pending divorce. This shall have the same effect as if he had been located and physically served with a paper Subpoena.

That's the future. Electronic media taking over. And it will continue getting worse. I'm in computers and am feeling the changes.
laugh Good! If you can't find them there's no marriage in the first placerolling on the floor laughing it saves money to post on their facebook page instead of in news papers. And since they are on it...and their friends and families are on it...they'll get the message so there won't be any excuses...tongue head banger cheering cheers
It was even easier on the frontier where judges were few & far between.
Women would post a public notice the the man had abandoned her bed...& announce she was available for courting.

Yes. Really!

Look through old newspaper records from the American West.

Danged lawyers will NEVER let things get that easy (and cheap). sigh
I can tell who will win in any & all divorces...
THE LAWYERS!!! very mad

That getting a divorce is a long-tiring-and-expensive process in parts of western world has become the main reason why some western people think that marriage is better to avoid.. it's just a piece of paper.. just a contract.. even a nightmare.

Is that true?
Kal, a lot of people say it's just a piece of paper. When my neighbour found he had cancer, though, he and his lady got married instantly, it's a piece of paper that smoothes a lot of problems away if you are marrying until death do you part.

Divorce, as already said, is wonderful for lawyers. When my ex and I split our lawyers were having a field day creating trouble, I finally rang my ex and said let's cut this out, use one guy just to sort everything out. We did. We're still on friendly terms. The way the two guys were going at it, we might never have spoken again.
Ken, kindly delete one of my double impressions, thanks
Done $10 contribution to Crazy Horse's party fund required.

I have a different friend who just did a 'pro se' Chapter 7 bankruptcy. She got it done, but it was a total pain and she strongly feels if she had it done again, next time for that she would use a lawyer and let him worry about meeting deadlines for creditor appeals, blocking garnishments and all that jazz. She did it, but lost a few days work in the process of multiple court hearings, which of course, being almost indigent hurt a lot.

I got divorced twice! The first one was revocable, he could get me back as his wife again just by saying it. For some complications he was forced to permanently divorce me

I just wanted it to get over and done with I waved all my rights and refused to accept anything from him. Since we have a kid the Sheikh told us to go home and think about it and come back after a week...we went back to the court after a week, I stood my ground, told them I don't want any settlement, don't want any money and signed papers that I couldn't read and understand. After we got the divorced paper we looked at each other and he joked and said " Now, we're stranger to each other"

After the divorce, he continue to make sure that we are well taken care of...till now, he's there for us...there was some hellish time but we did managed to grew up and be on the same page for the good of our son whom we both adore.
