Human Rights
Coming from Ireland, I have to say that from a human rights point of view I am very proud of how we recently passed the legislation on the allowing of gay marriage,The Vatican's reaction was the Popes right hand man
Cardinal Pietro Parolin stating that this was
"a defeat for humanity"
on the other hand
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin Ireland said
"It is very clear that if this referendum is an affirmation of the views of young people … [then the church needs] a reality check."
This leaves me very unresolved on where the Catholic church stands on the issue.
Are other church leaders as well as catholic ones divided on the issue. ?

Here in the US alone, almost all the states have legalized for this issue. Of course I voted for in our last election and been an advocate for their rights.
It's long overdue if you ask me. Progress non, no stopping it.

Yes I have to say I have always found the Canadians very much like the Irish or vice versa when it comes to such matters.

as far as being agnostic,
I find it near impossible to know anything about that
As for the choir boys, You could very well be right.
Enjoy the blogs !!!
I think this present pope is more openminded and grounded, and used to living in the real world, than previous ones.
I think change will come, albeit slowly.
Yhe catholic church has changed many rules over the years, they will again.
I agree 100%, Things sure have changed a lot in Ireland.
Twenty years ago it was a different Country altogether !
