family gathering

Most of the time I am perfectly happy to be living 400 miles from my nearest and dearest but I'm getting really excited about upcoming family gathering laugh

Maybe because the last 3 were funerals and weddings and the ex-in-laws all look alike. It is agonising when I'm 3 glasses of wine in and they come over to chat and I can never work out whether I should be saying Wow wow you look great, or we already talked half an hour ago ...

THIS gathering is MY family. Apart from the fact we all close our eyes when we smile, we are all different. yay Plus I'm can hardly WAIT to see my daughter (okay, I'll have to see some of the penguins) after 15 months!

After that, of course, I will be quite happy not to see them again for at least a year ...

No, MY family runs to girls, all different names and some are on their 2nd or 3rd marriages. It can get confusing. Lively bunch, though, and extremely outspoken, and lots of fun.

And it's the ex-husband's family that all look the same. Honestly. I should dig out my daughter's wedding photograph for you. You can spot her Dad's side - identical. My side of the family, all grinning, not a sliver of eye in sight. Cheeks and eyebrows practically meeting.

Angel, I am soooo looking forward to it. The only thing that could come close is a CS gathering for sheer fun. We have to have one of those too.

Ha, it has definite advantages. I normally go down there once or twice a year, and she comes up once or twice, but she's married now and he's scared of me.

I cannot imagine why. confused

I say she, because I probably wouldn't be driving 8 hours to see family (some I have never met) if my daughter wasn't the sweetener in the deal!

Today I visited my daughter and her family approx 55miles away.

My daughter was really chatty which was great as she's normally very chatty but on the phone or online to her husband and her customers.

My grandchildren are growing up fast too and I really don't want to miss that.

Nice, Rain!

I shall delicately raise the subject of grandchildren while I'm down there. I think I would be a seriously cool gran. I may never be allowed near them, though, in case I am a bad influence, my daughter is VERY conventional cool
