The art of listening...
A few years back I rented a small town house in an upmarket neighbourhood in Pretoria. This complex had a common area close to the visitors parking where one could wash your car. At the time I was driving a small old Volkswagen...One Sunday afternoon, I didn't feel like taking a nap, but rather washing my car in the common area...obviously I had my oldest sweater on for this occasion... Half way through ... a fancy car parked in the visitors parking and a very fine lady and a little girl passed me...The lady couldn't resist showing empathy for my effort saying that not far from the complex one could take the car for a non touch wash and that only for R 40.00 a wash. I bluntly looked up and innocently said it could be expensive for people who do not have money...
Yeah, needless to say... 5 minutes later and the little girl was back with R 40. 00 in her hand and very excited to announce it was for me... I was speechless for a while, got my words back and said thank you but I am almost done and that the little girl should put that in her penny box...
The art of listening ... with hindsight I could have made money this way...

True, but would you have been happy about it?
Yes! You sure could have.
I doubt you want to be a grifter...lets just say that you probably would have felt bad to take the hand out...but yes...it would have been so easy to make a few extra dollars...
