People Of Japan

I watched a few news clips about the anniversary of the end of the 2nd world war. I noticed that many of you are apologizing to the world for the war.

Its important to remember what happened and to learn from it so it can never happen again. Having said that, you do not need to apologize for the actions of a generation past. Since the world wars, you have turned your society into a peaceful, productive, and respected nation.

You have earned the respect of the rest of the world and the actions of a generation past do not reflect who you are now. Be proud of what you accomplished.

Taking a tiny bit of an issue with an implication in your blog, too. Japan's culture stretches back way, way further back than the war. They did not pull themselves together and become a productive and impressive nation in 60 years. There's been much more contact since, yes. But they were in no way backward or undeveloped before. Insular, proud and aggressive, yes, but advanced enough to cause havoc at Pearl Harbour.

Read your history - many speculate about alien life in the universe, and how we would react as a world if aliens suddenly found us. Read the books about the English discovering Japan, and the clash of two differently-developed cultures totally alien to each other. Fascinating stuff.

Just saying.
Durn useless spell check. That should say 19 year old, not 10 year old. laugh
The story of war when Japan in Indonesia... Even only abt 3,5 months but it was like in hell more than dutch for 350years...

I can't imagine that the past generations acted like wild animal, no heart at all. And that was not only to my country but to other too. Only by booming to stop them...

The apologize doing by their young generation till now maybe they realized how bad their past generation was done to the world.

The effect of atom booming to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, still we can see to the old people there. Blame your own country..

Today Japan is aone of beautiful and modern country. I am really salute they really run to rebuild the country after booming.thumbs up thumbs up
There have been atrocities the world over. Almost every country in the world has been involved in conflict of one form or another. Do we have to go on being bitter about everything that has happened to us in the past? It is history. We can but learn from it. But - we probably won't!
If you salt the fields, and make the land a 'Howling empty Wilderness,' then you won't have to come back and do it again. But if you leave an enemy survivor behind you, someday you will have to come back and do it all over again. So history teaches us.
So, by your reasoning Ken, half the world should be an empty waste-land. It appears to me, that you still regard Japan as your enemy? Does that also apply to the present generation of Japanese people who are apologising for the mistakes of their forefathers and who had no involvement in the war? Nations have been fighting since time immemorial. If your advice were to be acted upon, this world would have been devastated long ago.
