Sure.
Empathetic to other people's emotions, but can also backfire in that you sponge up those feelings, whether they be positive or negative.
Not sure how to overcome the problem....best to avoid negativity would be a start. Easily said, I know...you need to learn to walk away when it's affecting you. Surround yourself with positive people, if you can.
I am an empath and I am very sensitive to others emotions. I hate being an emotional sponge and I have worked hard to put barriers in place to shield me from others' emotions.
Yes....I feel for you. Honestly I do... cos I am one of those empaths too.
If you find a cure, let me know please...
All I can recommend is work on building up strong barriers as a strong defensive shield against absorbing others' emotions. I find myself struggling to build strong barriers.
I also isolate myself from people. When I am in public, around a lot of people, it can get very draining and exhausting. Then I have to go home and be alone to get rid of all the excess energy. I have very few friend, except for online, because it is just too exhausting.
