Smoking cigarettes

Folks, in this day and age, do any of you look over an interesting profile, only to see that the person smokes, and say to yourselves, no, think I'll pass. You've heard it all,--- how expensive the addiction has become, the health effects, how smoking is associated with lower social and educational class, how bad second hand smoke is for others (especially kids), etc. For me, I seem to be getting allergic to the smoke, and dislike the odor remaining all over the smoker, and how kissing one tastes. Just interested in everyone's thoughts here, and want to say that if smokers really want to quit, there's never been a better time, with so much help available.

My Grans friend was put into a nursing home.. They took her cigarettes away AND stopped her drinking her whiskey at night, said it was "Bad for her health".. She's 92 years old!!

Hi Aaltar. I enjoy a cigarette, although, I do wish I had never started smoking. I am not a heavy smoker and like you, I like the odd one now and again. I do find, that when I have a drink, I tend to smoke more. There is definitely a connection between the two. I have dated guys who didn't smoke. Some didn't like it and some didn't care. My late partner was an ex-smoker when I met him. It didn't bother him that I smoked.
Serena, If I was 92 and in a home and they told me to stop smoking and drinking, I would start a riot! Bloody cheek of them.

Aaltarboy just like smoking drinking can be expensive too.Some people can die from lung cancer as my late husband did in 2007.

Obviously people can die from cirrhosis of the liver as my Stepdad died from.

Never smoked myself but I wouldn't try to shove my beliefs on someone else.It's not my place.

Yes I've seen profiles where someone smokes plus drinks and at the very time where I've read posts on this site to where they were trying to quit both.

I smoked for over 23 years. If someone don't like the fact I smoke, no one is forcing them to talk to me. I am what I am.

sorry folks I am not against a smoker nor would I try to stop them smoking. I was a smoker myself, but unfortunately got a lung condition called COPD.

I of course stopped smoking for if you understand when one wakes up in the night and cant breath it is frightening..
I do take meds now and have inhalers which keep things at bay but every now and again symptoms are truly bad and have to have steroids.
One man on cs told me he smoked (I had not checked for that) I should have as second hand smoke makes my symptoms dangerous, he was truthful and pointed out to me he was a smoker. The honesty I appreciated and sadly missed getting to know a very nice person

By the way all smokers do not get COPD i was just unlucky

Don't know why you are complaining as to me it seems like it is more difficult to find smokers on here than non smokers. About every profile I look at say never smoked. As I know I am going to be repulsive to them I rather move on to the next one.
