CD in the car...

Earlier this year I purchased a 2020 model car. A few days ago while going through CD's I decided to bring one along and play it while on the way to work.
Small problem... the car doesn't have a CD player!
It does have a USB port and will play MP3's. As a plus, it will play videos on the 7" display as long as the car is in park. When shifted out of park the video closes and only music can be heard.
The next step is using Windows Media Player and rip the music to the hard drive then download to a memory stick. Doing so captures the album, artist and song title on the list.
I've been able to put a bunch of CD's on to one stick which is more convenient that having CD cases in the car!

Modern solution to an old problem.

Foo Fighters New Drummer...

The Foo Fighters are back in the studio and on the road with drummer Josh Freese.
In this rehearsal video, Josh blasts out some beats like he's been in the band for years.

Freese — a session and live drummer has performed with everyone from Guns N’ Roses and Nine Inch Nails to Paramore and Devo.

He replaces Taylor Hawkins, who died just over a year ago while on tour in Bogotá, Colombia.

Robert Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan...

I wasn't interested in the 1960's folk music scene and too young for the coffee-house crowd. I knew who Bob Dylan was and knew he was an influence to the musicians I listened to, but I didn't listen to his music directly.

Dylan has been a major figure in the popular music culture for more than 70 years.
My friends used to make fun of his voice and how Tom Petty with a similar likeness, could have been his son. There was a funny skit on Saturday Night Live about that.

It wasn't until a generation ago that I started listening to some of Dylan's songs. Yes, never too late. He's 82 years old now and had gone through health issues, some related to drugs, financial trouble and he keeps on rolling along.

The video is one of my favorites. It's from a concert in Madison Square Garden with a stage full of musical greats.

My Back Pages by Bob Dylan.

My Piano and I

Well I wanted to get started with my day BUT I am inspired to write yet another long term blog. After this you guys probably won’t see a blog from me for a while. Because I do post quite a bit here now that I’m not on Facebook but anyhow….

A way to keep your brain from succumbing to entropy is to play the piano. A long lost hobby of mine that I dearly love. I will be posting videos of me playing it on YouTube and posting it here once I get back into it. Because I do want to show the world that I do have passions that I pursue that aren’t just about sexy handsome men. Although they are very high on my list. Lol.

So stay tuned for those videos. It will be a series of music pieces that I love to play on piano. I’m mainly into classical pieces right now because they are both challenging and melodic simultaneously. I don’t care anymore if you guys see what I look like. I’m tired of hiding myself. I have things to offer in my creative and inspiring arsenal.

My melodic piece of weaponry. I love it so much. One of the things I would grab if there was a fire threat. And excuse the mess. My teenage kitten has other ideas besides keeping order.

Cuts, taps, pats, rolls, crans... ornamentation in Irish music

Blog 70,000
The music I most listened to was Rock. It wasn't until Riverdance came out in 1994 that I started listening to Irish music. Actually, that's Irish music 'watered down' and not real traditional Irish music. From the video, I was blown away by Uilleann Pipes and wanted to learn that instrument.
Since I didn't have any background my research was extensive and after a few thousand in vested in handmade pipes, I started a journey. the one thing I ignored was 10 years or so playing a tin whistle. That would have been the essential basis for the ornamentation to make the colorful sound heard on Irish music.
Prior to that, I had some woodwind experience in oboe and saxophone, and none of those instruments were considered traditionally Irish!.
After 5 years, I decided to give up pipes and head back to something more familiar.

I hit a link today that reminded of the pipes played in the Irish style, with a touch of metal sound. But first a tutorial on getting the ornamentation parts they describe as Cuts, taps, pats, rolls, crans.
