The Days He Ran Away..

I couldn't figure out why even to these days. Every time he heard me coming, let alone showing up myself in front of him, he just took off as fast as he could. What had I done? What did I do that deserved such rejection? To be honest, I had mixed feelings.. sad and disappointed. sad

But, I have never been a quitter, especially when I know what I am capable of. Oh well, at least I will try my best. So I kept bringing something for him, secretly ofcourse. Then I would take a peek behind a curtain, to see if he would take it.

And guess what?
He did. Yesss.. he did..!! shock
Still he would run away once he saw me. sad

"Keep trying, Kal! Don't give up!" I told myself.

And one day, we met.. he stood still.. motionless.. frozen.
As if he got caught in the act..
We looked at each other's eyes!

I asked him: "What really has happened to you?"
He didn't answer, but this time he didn't run away.
He looked at me and then left .. walked away from me.

And few days ago..
I saw him as usual. He tried to approach me
He seemed to wait for me as if he couldn't wait to see me.
Aaahhh at last.. banana

I told my Giant about all those. Every time there was a progress, my Giant gave me a kiss. He said: "I am glad you are nice to him, Kal!" kiss

I said: "Nope, I am not nice to him! I gave him milk, chicken and fish, not because I am nice. I simply couldn't stand it every time I looked at him. That tiny little baby kitten.. who always gets in to my verandah.. is right-eye-blind..!" blues

The Funniest Wildlife Photos of 2022

The overall winner of this year’s competition, which saw 5,000 incredible entries, is Jennifer Hadley, for her perfectly timed photograph of a lion cub losing its grip on a tree trunk entitled ‘Not so cat-like reflexes.’ As the 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Jennifer won an African safari trip to Kenya. She also won the Affinity Photo Award and People’s Choice Award for her charming shot of two penguins. “I really love this photo contest because it’s just so different from anything else and really shows off the personalities of the animals,” says Jennifer.

ENJOY THE AWESOME PICS!

No Such Thing as a Good Dog

People often tell me how lucky I am to have such a good dog but they’re wrong; there is no luck involved. My dog’s good temperament is the product of years of work. And if more people understood this, more people would have had ‘good’ dogs.conversing

I’ve put a lot of effort into exposing him to other dogs, kids, loud motorcycles, noisy power tools, popping fireworks, loud music, and many other disturbances when he was still a puppy; and took him for regular rides in my car. I allowed him to see, hear, smell and feel these influences at his own terms and it paid off. He is comfortable with such disturbances around him and he loves kids. dance

It is easy to train a puppy. He responds to his name, you give him a treat. He comes when you call him, you give him a treat. He sits when he’s told, you give them a treat. And after a few months, you have a dog that knows simple commands. But this is when many fall off the bus. You have to keep it up as your dog matures. You have to keep your dog stimulated and it also helps him to keep up with you as circumstances change. A dog's training never stops.dancing dog

A dog needs plenty of love and attention. When given enough of that, he will bend sideways trying to please you. He will protect you with his life… or lose it in an effort to do so.teddybear

Regular exercise is another must for your dog. A restless dog is often a sign of not enough exercising. When the weather allows it, I walk instead of driving the 2 km to the supermarket. He knows that he may not go into the shopping center but he also knows where to wait for me. That took a bit of training but eventually, he did learn to wait until I returned. He understands that the word ‘wait’ means that I’ll come back for him. cartwheel

So, a ‘good’ dog is not the result of some lucky genetic draw; a dog requires a good owner and a lot of work to make him a ‘good’ dog. pointing

California Finally Did Something Right

Retail pet stores in California will only be able to sell kittens, rabbits, and puppies if they come from a rescue organization after a new state law goes into effect Tuesday.

With AB 485, California became the first state to implement such strict new rules on pet stores. Retailers are banned from selling live dogs, cats or rabbits unless the animal was obtained from a public animal control agency or shelter, humane society group, society for the prevention of cruelty to animals shelter or a rescue group that’s in a cooperative agreement with at least one private or public shelter.

Suna and Mitch Kentdotson were visiting the SD Humane Society to adopt a new kitten on Friday. They said they'd like to see the state restrict neglectful breeders from profiting off the sale of puppies and kittens.

“I think it’s better to rescue these animals instead of having like a puppy mill or something like that where these animals are raised super inhumanely," Suna Kentdotson said.

Pastor Arrested on Suspicion of Child Molestation
“It takes the emphasis off the profit of animals and puts the emphasis back on caring for and getting these cats and dogs a good home," Mitch Kentdotson said.

San Diego County has a few retail pet stores left, including Broadway Puppies in Escondido, which has a sister store in National City.

According to the company’s website, they only use responsible licensed breeders. Come Tuesday, they'll only be able to sell pets from shelters.

Farmers Risk Loss of Federal Payments, Loans From Shutdown
The Humane Society said it hasn't been contacted by any local retail pet stores inquiring about the purchase of its animals. But even if they do contact the group, the Humane Society isn't sure it would partner with the stores.

"We're not prepared to do that ourselves, because we have a fairly robust adoption program," MacKinnon said.

The organization sent letters to all local stores reminding them of the new law, which does not impact the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits direct from breeders.

........... A father and his son are traveling and sitting on a donkey. Then they meet people they hear saying, "Look at that. Sit that father and his son together on that donkey. That should actually be forbidden to burden such an a** so heavily. ' The father then decides to walk next to the donkey and let his son sit on the donkey. Then other people come along and say, "Look at that. Such an antisocial son who lets his old father walk, but stays on that donkey himself. Ridiculous! " The son decides to walk next to the donkey and let his father sit. Again they meet people and they say: 'Look at that father. You can sit on that donkey yourself, and let his son walk. Child abuse.' So both the father and the son decide to walk next to the donkey. And again they meet people who say this time: 'They are crazy! If they have an a**, they will not use it! "

In other words, you can never do everything 100% well that everyone agrees with.cheers

One Sick Puppy

Now that I go to write the blog I can't remember if my profile picture shows Bella or not but I'm going to guess the dog is in my arms because she usually is and when she isn't, she is by my side. She went to work with me every single day in the CPA firm and she sits on my desk at home.

Two days ago she was restless, throwing up and diareah. I knew a vet visit was in order the next day however her diareah and vomitting stopped yesterday but she still stayed restless. Today she finally ate something but everytime she laid down, she would pop up, spin around, try to lay down, pop up spin around, try to lay down, rinse and repeat.

I only moved to this town two months ago so I called the neighbor to ask for her vets phone number. Funny thing when the vet's office answered I recognized the name and it was the same vet I used over 40 years ago when I lived in this town. I took Bella to the vet but she miraculously got better when we got there so I was sent home. If I find blood in her stool or she continues this popping up, spinning uncomfortable gestures I will have some geriatric blood work done after all she is 14 years old.

She weighed two and a half pounds, that is SOOOO TINY. I don't ever want such a tiny dog again. I love throwing her in my purse but I don't like watching for all the predators (like birds) that want to dine on her. Especially here in FL she is truly gator bait.

I think my cooking made for one sick puppy.
