. People aren't always what they seem

The first step to wisdom is realising how little we actually know.

May the good god bless everyone and show the direction of purity and kindness..

Swami Vivekananda, born Narendranath Datta, was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher and author. He was a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. Wikipedia
Born: 12 January 1863, Kolkata
Died: 4 July 1902, Belur Math, Howrah
Full name: Narendra Nath Datta
Education: Scottish Church College (SCC), Vidyasagar College (1871–1877), more
Parents: Vishwanath Datta, Bhuvaneswari Devi.

What did Swami Vivekananda say about Jesus?
In his lecture, Vivekananda has compared the entire human existence to an ocean, where an individual's life is like waves. He has compared human lives with the waves rising on the ocean, and then falling down. Jesus is like a big wave that comes very rarely. Vivekananda called Jesus "The great soul, the Messenger."

Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) is best known in the United States for his groundbreaking speech to the 1893 World's Parliament of Religions in which he introduced Hinduism to America and called for religious tolerance and an end to fanaticism.

Time and Life...and God.

They are so closely intertwined that we cannot do without either one. A new day and week are just around the corner, but will Life this week be better than it was last week? Will Time slow down for us to savour the simple, beautiful things that Life has to offer, or will it rush by filled with the horrors of hatred and war?

God never intended for our Life and Time on this planet to be "short, and full of strife", but mankind seems to prefer it that way. We've made, and continue to make, such bad choices that the little good that we do becomes dwarfed by the shadow of our errors.

Perhaps we could resolve to seek God and seek out more of the simple, beautiful things, both on here (amid the politics, etc) and in our 'off-line' life...starting again with this new week. Time and Life have been granted to us to enjoy, multiply and share God's blessings regardless of who we are, what we look like, where we live, how we communicate and even why we think we exist.

Let's not allow the 'wars' of this world make us forget how to value the Time and Life...and God, that we still have.

The Dichotomy that never was…nor should ever be

As a student (pre-university), I was introduced to important scientific theories and issues such as ‘Creation vs Evolution’ and ‘Nature vs Nurture’, that presented arguments about which is more responsible for life on earth, and an individual’s social development. I narrowly believed that one was more important than, and independent of, the other. What I much later realized (post-university), in fact, was that their relationships are much more symbiotic, than dichotomous.

Yet another important life issue, ‘Spirituality vs Religion’, has given me reason for analysis. When completing one’s CS profile regarding “religion”, one of the options for your answer is “Spiritual, but not Religious”, and recently, I had cause to ‘discuss’ it in one of my forum threads. There were some rather interesting comments made highlighting aspects of the perceived dichotomy, hence my following attempt at dispelling the popular notion that there is more ‘dichotomy’, than there is ‘symbiosis’, between them.

Just as Evolution cannot take place without there first being Creation and Nature cannot effectively flourish without Nurture, I believe that Spirituality cannot blossom without the influence of Religion.
“Spirituality means different things to different people. For some, it's primarily about a belief in God and active participation in organized religion. For others, it's about non-religious experiences that help them get in touch with their spiritual selves through quiet reflection, time in nature, private prayer, yoga, or meditation (Psychology today).
The Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionaries agree that “Religion” encapsulates the following:
1. the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
2. a particular system of faith and worship.
3. a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion.

Both concepts are too closely intertwined to warrant any real separation. But then there never was any…in reality. However, I believe that some may be opposed to ‘religion’ because they perceive it as being the same as, or attached to, ‘denominationalism’. Why?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “Denominationalism” is defined as:
1 : devotion to denominational principles or interests.
2 : the emphasizing of denominational differences to the point of being narrowly exclusive : sectarianism.
Yet another definition (Christianity Essentials) states that “Denominationalism, then, is a devotion to one’s own denomination (“I’m a Methodist and proud of it”) or, more negatively, an emphasis on denominational differences to the point of being narrowly exclusive (“If you’re not a Methodist, then you’re wrong”). The negative type of denominationalism could be called sectarianism, and it is overly divisive. (Got Answers.com)

There is where the real dichotomy lies.

A belief in God, and the nurturing of one’s spirit through His examples and teachings should go hand in hand. Let’s not create, nor perpetuate, divisions where they shouldn’t be.

Jesus is my treasure.......

I believe that Jesus is The Master of the craft. We had religion and spirituality all wrong, so God came to visit us in the form of a human being to set the record straight. He revealed the true Nature and Spirit of God to us.

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for all of mankind. He died in our place so that we would not have to die on the spot for our sins. Jesus also taught the positive way of God so that we could live it right. After the death of Jesus, God raised him from the dead, give him eternal life and all the power without measure. He is now our mediator between God and mankind.

Following Christ is going to cost you everything. You don't need to give him 90% or 99% of your life but 100%, He's everything or He's nothing. You find that path by studying His word, and gain understanding through the help of the Holy Spirit and apply it to your life. It won't be easy, as you'd have to give up some things in life. But it's worth it considering your reward in heaven.

The narrow path is when you don't listen to your heart but to what scripture says....

I hope we can spread the gospel of Jesus Christ at any opportunity.

l love you jesus... i am
immensily happy... because
you truly care for me..
before i fall in danger
you came to protect me
God bless me.bouquet
love you more than anything

Jesus is the mediator for human kind to God

Jesus' name in Hebrew was “Yeshua” which translates to English as Joshua.

Yahweh is the principal name in the Old Testament by which God reveals himself and is the most sacred, distinctive and incommunicable name of God.

Jesus said He is the Way — this means He is the way to God, not one of many, but the one and only way.

Also....
said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”.

I
am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Jesus again claims to be Light of the World.

Mahavira..... history of jainism....

Mahavira was born a little before the Buddha. While the Buddha was the founder of Buddhism, Mahavira did not found Jainism. He is the 24th great teacher (Tirthankar) in the Jain tradition that was founded in the present era by Rishabh or Adinath, thousands of years before Mahavira.

Mahavira also known as Vardhamana, was the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. He was the spiritual successor of the 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanatha. Mahavira was born in the early part of the 6th century BCE into a royal Kshatriya family in ancient India. His mother's name was Trishala and his father's name was Siddhartha. Wikipedia
Born: Vaishali
Died: Pavapuri
Full name: Vardhamana
Symbol: Lion
Parents: Trishla, Siddharth
Children: Priyadarshana
Siblings: Nandivardhana.

Lord Mahavir was the twenty-fourth and the last Tirthankara of the Jain religion. According to Jain philosophy, all Tirthankaras were born as human beings but they have attained a state of perfection or enlightenment through meditation and self realization. They are the Gods of Jains.

Who is the main God of Jainism?
Some writers regard the jinas as 'gods' because the jinas are venerated by Jains in the way that other faiths worship gods or God. Jains venerate them because they have achieved perfection, and have become liberated from the cycle of birth and death.

Rishabhanatha
Origins. The origins of Jainism are obscure. The Jains claim their religion to be eternal, and consider Rishabhanatha the founder in the present time-cycle, who lived for 8,400,000 purva years.

What is it about…DEATH?

Death is inevitable (according to the Bible).

Many fear it.

Some people fight against it fiercely, whilst others embrace it willingly.

Vocabulary used to describe it includes such words as ‘foreboding’, ‘uncertain’, ‘mysterious’ and ‘final’. Imagery used to depict it is ugly, scary, and dark.

Is it really death that we fear, or is it what happens after? Or perhaps we fear what may sometimes happen before; such as pain and suffering from grave illness/sin?

The Bible often refers to death as ‘sleep’ or ‘rest’. Neither of these terms conjures images of dread for which we ought to fear. In fact, both describe a respite from work, an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate. So why, then, should I fear death?

Among other deaths, I have been a witness to my own mom’s passing, which has left me with many unpleasant memories. And whilst I believe that ‘theoretically’ we shouldn’t have any fears, the sad truth is that if our pain and suffering from something debilitating could end with either uncertain medical treatment or certain death, we may most likely choose the former, even though certain death would give us ‘rest’. What an enigma!

Is it that we are pre-conditioned to fear death and fight against it at all costs? Is it a part of our DNA so there’s no avoiding the fear?

Often, I feel that I may not ever be ready to die because pain and illness are sometimes horribly unbearable. But, if I had a choice in the matter, I would want to die quickly and painlessly. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), when it comes to my deciding how, when and where I die, the choice is not really mine.

GOD AND DIFFERENT RACES

When god created the human race, do you think he intended that there be differences in colour, physical structure of the body, variation in hair, small humans, large humans etc. If he did plan for this, is it right that this creation of his should inter mingle and inevitably change the appearance of the races that he originally designed?
