According to human evolution, Humans essentiallyly as intelligent as people today arrived on the scene 150,000 - 75,000 years ago.
About 12,000 years ago they discovered that planting seeds grew plants that produced food (aka - farming).

It seems it would've taken Much Less than 60,000 - 140,000-ish years for Someone to figure that out ...

There are several websites that offer weather services. For years I followed one from the local newspaper. Temperature, wind speed, radar and rain forecast. Basic stuff. Other weather data comes from a few local TV stations.
We have a saying that if you don't like the weather in South Florida, wait a hour and it will be totally different. This is true for summer months where afternoon downpours clear up in a matter of minutes.
Now that my hobby is model aviation, I'm concerned about wind speed because windy days are not good days for flying. It could be calm at 7am and by 9:30 the winds will kick up to 10 miles per hour. This runs most of the day and as temperatures change cooler after 6pm the winds drop down. That sometimes gives a window of low winds (good for flying) about an hour before nightfall.
I found the website Weather Underground that appears to have lots of smaller reporting stations linked to them all across the country with a few less than 25 miles from my location. I click the site and see a what's happening in my neighborhood. From one of the reporting stations, I was able to see the equipment they are using to send information to the main site.
One company making these weather detection devices is Davis Instruments. Prices from a few hundred to a few thousand, the different components can be used to have a fully functioning wireless weather station. I've seen these things like this on yachts before.



I could get one of these units, mount it to the roof of my building, subscribe to the service and have my very own node on the Weather Underground. If I lived in a remote location it would be something to consider, but there are a handful of reporting units already near me... I'm sure they don't need another.

Distraught pet owners can get permits for creatures including pythons and lizards but state wants trade and breeding to stop



Florida is known as a state with a fondness for the exotic, from its long history of accommodating religious cults to the Bubble Room restaurant where every day is Christmas Day. But now time is running out for one type of eccentric Floridian: those who own or breed exotic and invasive reptiles and other non-native animals.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has ruled that within the next few weeks the breeding and dealing of 16 of the most ecologically-damaging non-native species must be brought to a halt. The ban will apply to several types of python that have proliferated to crisis point in the Everglades, as well as all types of tegu lizards, anacondas, Nile monitor lizards and green iguanas.

When the commission debated the rules last month it was inundated with comments, many from exotic pet owners and breeders pleading for the ban not to go ahead. As the Washington Post reported, one woman burst into tears over the idea of losing her pet iguanas and pythons.

“If you take them away, I would be really messed up,” she wailed.

But the spread of invasive species through sensitive ecosystems such as the Everglades is happening at such speed that the state felt duty bound to act. The reptiles are also causing havoc in urban areas.

Green iguanas have multiplied in Florida to such a degree since they were first spotted there in 1960 that they are regarded as an environmental hazard. They puncture seawalls, tear up sidewalks and carry salmonella.

An animal once prized as an exotic curiosity is now widely decried as a pest. The iguanas hang out on roofs, dig under houses and to the horror of home owners can crawl into sewers only to emerge, thrashing around, in the toilet bowl.

The state conservation commission now encourages Floridians to humanely kill the lizards, which can grow up to 5ft and 17lbs, on their own property. No hunting licenses are required.

To soften the blow to besotted pet owners, a concession has been tucked into the new regulations. Anyone who cannot contemplate the thought of being parted from their iguana or tegu can apply for a free permit.

But the reprieve will last only for the life of the animal. Once the critter is gone, it cannot be replaced by a new pet from the list of banned species.

To Infinity, and Beyond? (At the Microscopic Level)?

This would seem to suggest Infinity is possible in the reverse direction (Think Zeno's Paradox). It is all a matter of scale. To think in this way; is to understand how the Big Bang could have come from an Infinitely Small Singularity. In fact, all of the Cosmological Evidence (background radiation) would seem to point toward the veracity of this statement.......

To Infinity, and Beyond? (At the Macroscopic Level)?

Consider this, now, from the Reverse Point of View: Since the MS is Infinite in one direction; then why not the other way around? Likewise, this would seem to suggest that the Universe is Infinite at Vast Scales; which the human mind cannot process; and indeed fits the Mathematical Definition of Genuine Infinity....(there are various interpretations of this).......

Fractals at ANY level of magnification will produce self-similar but NOT Identical Patterns (generated by the information contained in the Original Set)....

Everything in Nature is Fractal; (The classic example would be a snowflake) - they are all indeed different, yet superficially the same; due to their self-similarity. Other examples would include leaves on a tree, and forks of lightning....

The Universe itself, is Fractal/Chaotic

This is why (mathematically) these Fractal Sets are very significant and important to study...

The Mandelbrot Set is probably the most famous fractal set; although there are many others (depending on the mathematical parameters chosen, and, of course, the initial function)...

I was just sorting out some items that have been randomly assigned 4 digit numbers. There was a stack of about 70 items.

I was sorting them in piles by their first digit. About half way through, I noticed that each pile had about 4 or 5 items in it while the #3 pile had none. I thought to myself about averages and is their any validity to them? The next item in the pile I was sorting was an 8, then the next one was a 3. Okay, my first 3. I thought well, that 3 stack is still low...if average may have validity, there should be more 3's coming. And wouldn't you know it, shortly afterwards, there were 3 more 3's.

The seafloor beneath floating ice shelves accounts roughly a third of the Antarctic’s 5 million km2 of continental shelf. Prior to this study, our knowledge of these habitats and the life they support was restricted to what has been observed from eight boreholes drilled for geological and glaciological studies. The established theory of sub-ice shelf biogeography is that both functional and taxonomic diversities decrease along a nutrient gradient with distance from the ice shelf front, resulting in a depauperate fauna, dominated by mobile scavengers and predators toward the grounding line. Mobile macro-benthic life and mega-benthic life have been observed as far as 700 km under an ice shelf. New observations from two boreholes in the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf challenge the idea that sessile organisms reduce in prevalence the further under the ice you go. The discovery of an established community consisting of only sessile, probably filter feeding, organisms (sponges and other taxa) on a boulder 260 km from the ice front raises significant questions, especially when the local currents suggest that this community is somewhere between 625 km and 1500 km in the direction of water flow from the nearest region of photosynthesis. This new evidence requires us to rethink our ideas with regard to the diversity of community types found under ice shelves, the key factors which control their distribution and their vulnerability to environmental change and ice shelf collapse.
