And You Wonder Why Trump Won

Seattle employees ask for REDUCED hours so that "jacked-up" minimum wage won't cost them subsidized housing: Gee, who could have seen this coming?
Now this is downright funny. They scream for a higher minimum wage, then, when they get it they complain because they make too much money to qualify for the free stuff, go figure. By jacking up minimum wage, Seattle has provided a valuable lesson in liberal economics. The plan has now backfired.
Nora Gibson, executive director of Full Life Care, told Seattle 's KIRO 7 TV she saw a sudden reaction from workers when Seattle 's phased minimum-wage ordinance took effect in April, bringing minimum wage to $11 an hour. She said anecdotally, some people feared they would lose their subsidized housing so they have asked that their work hours be reduced to remain eligible for all government subsidies.
It doesn't stop at $11/hour. The law puts it up to $15 starting January 1, 2017, they will have to reduce their work hours even more to remain eligible for handouts. Good thing the minimum wage wasn't raised even higher, most would not work at all, they prefer to be spoon fed and remain on the government plantation.
So now workers work fewer hours, but for the same take home pay, business' labor costs increase so prices increase, buyers (workers) pay more and no one is better off.
Remember free market capitalism? Under that system, the harder and smarter you worked, the higher your standard of living. But that was found to result in income inequality, so now we have a system where wealth is bestowed by bureaucrats, and working harder doesn't always make sense.
Just a little bit at a time until America is gone, and turns into Venezuela next...
AND YOU WONDER WHY TRUMP WON?!?!

> Nimmo: "Senator Feinstein

Another potential benefit of the Virus...?

Let's face it, the cost of living is all but prohibitive in our big cities. yet young people flock to these places, to work toward a career, for networking, to explore the chances for romance, and so on. A major expense is space for work and home life. We see these young folks, and ever those in advanced age, living in roommate situations, or at home, if parents are so situated. And there are the homeless.
Lock downs of various sorts have many people working at home, a trend which had already begun over the past decades. There are many spinoffs in terms of real estate that may result from these changes. The costs for renting expensive office space are already dropping. And conversions from workspace, to living space, are already on the increase. Supply and demand rules of economics may benefit many, who could use it most, unlike the owners/corporations, who will lose, but such is business..
While some, especially families and some elderly, may opt for suburbia, where home purchase is still possible for many, for the above reasons, this option is less ideal for younger people.
So one door closes, and others open---perhaps literally. Even the disaster that was democrat ruled Detroit, is returning to a non automobile manufacturing renaissance. Abandoned homes were going for pennies on the dollar. And buyers of diverse backgrounds move in to renovate, and to become homeowners for the first time.
Sure, the important productivity and innovation Jones of the face-to-face may suffer, but ways will be found to substitute, and even to restore the same.
Sometimes brutal illnesses, and Capitalism, can provide hope.

I'm building a wall

....and Mars is going to pay for it. Well not immediately because it's not populated or anything, but in like 243 years after it's colonized by tax-paying, genetically-modified human/ferret hybrids.

Also, with the money saved by not paying useless park rangers, we can afford more tax breaks for the 0.1 percent. MAGA!

The disappearance is noted...

I'm curious why a few recent blogs have disappeared. I noted numbers on my blogs for reference. Two days ago, I had 1,671 blogs and this morning, it's 1,666.
The list of total system blogs showed 71,200 and now it's down to 67,956.
Trimming the fat?

The first thought that comes to mind is storage and bandwidth. At some point, blogs and forum posts will become enormous and the cost of keeping data for years and years becomes expensive. CS is a free site and the need to eliminate some data would become a possibility.

Just a thought... It was mentioned (in a blog) that blogs that didn't comply with the wishes of administration would be deleted. I tried looking for that blog... but it disappeared too!

i play the no lose lottery ,,

i play the only lottery where by you do not ever lose your stake money ,,,,it must be the only lottery in the world where you can win up to a million every month and never lose your stake ,,whats the catch well if you invested that money you would earn interest ,,but the way the bank rates are then you would not miss much ,,
it may be a high stakes game for some people ,,as the starting price is one hundred pounds or dollars ,and the upper limit is 50.000 pounds or dollars obviously the more you invest the greater your chance of the million ,,which is also tax free all winnings are tax free,,the lowest prize is 25 pounds or dollars then it increases upwards 50,,100,,500,,1000,,,5000,,,10,000,,,25,000 ,,50.000,,,100,000,,,and the big one 1,000,000,,,,

on my first investment i worked out the interest that i received via prizes and it equated to 20 percent ,,but that was when the upper limit was 25,000 pounds,,, but now the sharks have joined the pool which tells you exactly how good it is as they all invest the max and still earn a pretty penny or two out of it ,,,,
