And In The "Real World"..."People Are Strange" Too

One morning my sister came to my room with a question… “people said that India is the most beautiful country in the world… I don’t think so!! Brazil, New Zealand even Indonesia is more beautiful than India!!”. I didn’t react directly…. I just woke up…. After collecting my consciousness fully, her question came back to me…. This question dragged me to the past, to the memory when I visited India back in 1999 and 2004.

To her I said, “Yes… I agree. India is indeed the most beautiful country on earth. Despite the mentality of the nation, India is indeed a beautiful country….!”. She was of course against my statement and asked me to justify why I am saying that. For me, every country in the world is different. They have their own beauty. We could not compare one country to another and judge this one is more beautiful than that one. New Zealand is beautiful with its mountains. Caribean Island is beautiful with its beaches. Middle east is beautiful with its Oasis/wadis and deserts. South America is beautiful with its tropical weather and India is beautiful with its culture.

I had chances to visit several towns at that time, not to mention Agra where Taj Mahal located, I could see the beauty of India closely and personal. I didn’t stay and work in Mumbai or Delhi, I went to smaller places like Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmadabad, Vadodara and back to Agra in one chance and other places in another chance. I saw the beauty of the culture. This beauty is not about the nature, is not about how the city built, is not about the hospitality of the people (my Indian colleagues was nice but by the end, I was always the one who had to pay his meals). But truly about its culture… look at to Indian women, it doesn’t maters she is poor or rich, they always have jewelry either only in their finger foot and piercing on their nose or full jewelry from the head till the toe. Mostly precious metal (gold, silver bronze). Another thing we can see is all their religious ceremonies as well as cultural festivals. Believing in many Gods (Khrisna, hSiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Devi, etc) is allowing Indian to have more events celebration compared to other religions. And many other things I could not mention here which make me admitting humbly that India is the most beautiful country on earth...

In the other hand, as the 2nd largest number of population (but the first one when we compare it with the width of the country –China 142people/km2, India 381people/km2) with GDP only US$ 5,855 –ref. Wikipedia), life is tough in India. We all know the experiment of placing one rat in a square would have calmer behavior than placing 25 rats in the same size of square and that’s what I saw in India. Every single Indian I met in my whole life has very good skill of talking. I remember, the speech writer of UNAIDS EXD was Indian. Mrs Nafis Sadik, special envoy for for HIV/AIDS, is bright Indian woman ( I also remember the extra comprehension we spared for them). And now we are in CS we have one special Indian male, Mr I*ta**, who also has very good skill in talking… like the best one !

A funny experience I could share… taking a public a train! I was in Dehli. I was funny… it was hyper crowded in the train stations. Me and my colleague’s wife were waiting for him from buying train ticket. We didn’to walk but we moved like 25 meters away from where we stand before without realizing it and my colleague was panicking looking for us !!!
