My mom always said it is infatuation when you first get married and grows into love as you face life together. I think she was on the right track.
I look at my oldest brother and his wife. They have been married 36 years, faced unimaginable trials, and still feel as lucky to have found each other as the day they married. The complete each other and are truly soulmates. They make me believe it is possible to have a perfect match out there somewhere.

The most critical eye is yourself and your soul friend(anam cara translated from old irish)being the person that can get to see you for the person that you truly are, even if you don't see it. It is as if you trying to look at yourself completely.
If you look behind you, you still can't see the back of your neck or when you see the front of yourself, you can't see the back of you. No matter how much you try, there is no way possible fo you to be able to see yourself completely. That is what your Anam Cara is for. Your Anam Cara is your mirror. They can see you completely. Not just from the outside but inside as well.
I find it an interesting concept.

I can see it that way also.... but wouldn't it be infatuation while your dating and then start falling in love that leads to marriage and carrying the love to the next level.

Get chasing FF!I don´t really like the cliche soulmate, it´s over-used and often mistakenly, IMO, used to decribe a romantic relationship.
I have two female friends who are true soulmates, for want of a better word. I dont think I would describe a relationship with a man in the same way, despite being married and in love for 25 years.
