Sommerauer71: I want to understand why they would fall over.

Okay, I am now taking this thread VERY seriously!

I am setting myself this venture ... to go seek out a cow farmer and ask permission to try and push over one of his cows.

Sommer .... is this done from the side, or the back? I seen cows kick so I would prefer to try this from the side. I seen how big cows are so I am having this mental image of how long and how hard and how far I gotta push this cow till she falls over? What happens if she injures herself? What happens if she injures ME? What do I put on my Krankenkasse form ....... "Eine Kuh hatte mich durchgerol"? or something like that - will check my dictionary for terminology along those lines.

Ok, if you weighed half a ton and balanced on 4 spindly legs, perhaps you have a high centre of gravity (if that applies to cows) which would make it easy to overbalance when some mad woman sneaks up beside you and give you a quick shove.

Hi Conny

then you can imagine how hilarious it was to watch a bull weighing in at around 1.2 tons staggering around an orchard.

Ah ja! That`s the Mopani fruit you talking about? Elephants and monkeys eat the fermented fruit? (I`m sure its the Mopani?)

... The one that also has Mopani Worms? ... A sort of delicasy of Africa?

And then there`s another story about the Mopani trees.... Archeologists began finding these "ancient" stone cutting implements - (always in the area of Mopani trees) and they had them all layed out in the Pretoria Museum of Natual History ... and this ancient old black cleaner guy who works there asked them why they were collecting these things? ..... His tribe makes them - an age old tradition - for cutting open the hard shell of the Mopani Fruits .....

And also ... being about the only large tree that grows in the areas where Mopani Trees grow (Conrad will look up the details for you all of the exact locations, and contradict any other inadvertent lies I may be telling) .... Safari Hunters are warned to never camp under a Mopani tree. For those ignoring these warnings - they wake up to find themselves under about 6 inches of water - the earth is waterlogged around their spreading roots, and only dry when the fruit falls and ferments, to allow the elephants to get near (& drunk).

Oh, and also ..... VERY LARGE (dinnerplate size)spiders live in Mopani trees and they jump onto your tent at night and crawl into your sleeping bag.. jackolantern

smoky: Somehow, I`m inclined to agree with you on this one Gussi!

Me and large hairy animals ....(4 legged kind, unfortunately) have a fatal attraction thing! In SA, in the local pub, was a donkey who wandered thru regularly ... and he`d make straight for ME - always! He`d eat my cigarettes, lick the ashtray clean, slurp the sugar bowl, milk, and my coffee cup, or beer, depending on time of day. I got to hide all my stuff over the counter when I saw him coming - but then he`d just snuffle my hair and wanna lick my face and chew on any loose clothing! I think he was in love with me?

At least the big Hog was not attracted to me - you never seen such a HUGE monstrous pig! He only ate stuff lying on the floor.

Now ... I just need a humanoid man version of that Donkey - and I`d be off this site.

Sommerauer71: Oh I know you would not belittle this topic, I know nothing about cows.

I must apologise to smoky and Butterfly, I know how it irritates them when things are spelt incorrectly, but I did not have my contact lenses in and of course, I pressed submit in haste.

It was a serious conversation we had at school.

I cannot stop thinking about it. I feel it is something that would be good to do a research paper on.

Yes, I agree completely, Sommer. I suffer from that occasionally.laugh

REPORTING BACK: Okay, I had a good chat with a cow farmer tonight about pusing a cow, and he agrees with me.

Its very much the same as trying to get a drunk to move over and let you drive (you who is more sober).

You cannot TELL them they are drunk cause then you gonna lose the argument.

You let them get in the driving seat, and then you get in after them, and gently keep shoving until they move into the passenger seat. Then you start up and drive off, and they are quite happy.

Well, its the same with a cow. You just stand next to the cow and keep rubbing up against it with a sort of downward heavy shove, while you keep talking and telling it to fall over....... Eventually, the cow gets tired of being leaned on, and lies down.

Done! Cow is pused.cheers

Life, she is so simple, when you know which buttons to press!

At last and I will respond later today.

Thank you smoky.

I have just arrived home from work, have a jamboree this weekend and with my student council. I have been making pom poms.

Okay.

I have cows in the field opposite my apartment block. I have been out and looked at them. They looked back, as if to say, 'you are not pusing me over'

Anyway, after much thought, I have conclusively come to this.

It has to be done from the side. There is no other way, pusing one from the back would only bring huge problems that would cause much damage to us, and from a balance point of view, it would be impossible.

So, my fact finding mission has proved that only cows can be pused from the side.

I would need some help though, because I am not sure I could manage to puse one alone.

We will think about what to tell the Krankenhaus and what to write on the Krankenkasse form later.

I am not sure they will buy pusing cows, I am not sure it is an ethical or moral reason for being at der Krankenhaus.

So, whilst it is muddy in the field, I can safely tell my student, that my EU forum friends and I have safely decided that cows can be pused, but only from the side.

The only matter left to determine, is whether we want to attempt to and I am not doing a very good job of pusing myself into a decision that I am feeling very conflicted about. And they looked pretty happy today, when I looked at them and I thought how could one puse these magnificent creatures?

Sommerauer71: Apparently, makes one fall over.

I was told by a student yesterday.

Yes, obviously I have addressed the matter of 'how to manage our recreational time'

Anybody else know this or worse, tried it?

I like cows, I love how when you walk past them, they chew, calmly and watch you from those big, bovine, eyes.

It's called 'Cow Tipping' in the States, and is a favourite past-time of rednecks coming home after sampling Bubba's moonshine! grin
