ttom500: In your GWB post...you said GWB started TWO wars. The Taliban and AlQeada started the Afghan war with 9/11. GWB started the Iraq war.
Only one war did GWB start, RocketQueen.

confused the terrorists were Saudisroll eyes Very narrow minded thinking on the former president's part-to concentrate efforts into 2 countries, when terrorism is globalroll eyes That type of thinking has given the terrorists about a 6 year head start in other countries. Luckily President Obama pointed this out earlier in his presidency-how asinine (not his words) and backwards the thinking was. By concentrating efforts on 2 useless wars that did not do anything but line pockets and kill people, we've let them thrive elsewhere.

gwb had other alternatives than to start wars right off the bat-IF he hadn't been thinking about the golden opportunities that awaited his "friends".

There clearly was an agenda there, and in some circles Iraq was unfinished business.

After 9/11 they used this opportunity to blame Saddam's regime and looked for any concealed excuse to justify military action.

The UN weapons inspectors said no WMD's Colin Powell in my opinion disgraced his former uniform by lying, and i'll say this plainly...he lied about evidence that he said the intelligence services had given him.

MI5 and MI6 briefed out Government that there was no reliable evidence, and what their was unquote "unreliable and unstubstantiated".

These words are damning in Intelligence circles, and then Intelligence personnel then prefaced any comments they made after that to ensure they couldn't be blamed as scapegoats as the poor CIA were blamed, when they were hung out to dry.

There were no targets to Bomb in Afghanistan, and it's hard to blame someone with no evidence to get public opinion, and if the so called war on terror were that serious a political conviction to GWB why was i after 9/11 were American Special Forces deployed to the Pakistani/Iraqi border for over a month.

Funny as i know exactly how quick this could have been done in, and it sure as crap doesn't take a month or longer!

Yesssssssss...but then that gets Tom out of answering it...and this question always gets evaded every time I ask it...If this war was indeed about 911....Should Saudi Arabia not have been the country that the U.S. invaded???????

The lack of answer is obvious...because it was never about 911 that's why...How could it have been when the attacking terrorists didn't even come from either country that was invaded?????

It seems obvious to me that both Russia and China want to weaken the authority and credibility of the new USA President as soon as possible - for their own reasons.

The exploration of space for peaceful means is a right for countries, but the UN decided to take away that right from North Korea as North Korea has several times reneged on nuclear agreements it has made in the past.

What are the motivations of Russia and China to immediately pull the rug from under Obama's feet when he had just called for unity in condemning North Korea's missile space launch?

It's not Obama's fault that Russia and China wish to weaken Obama's leading role in relatively free and democratic countries.

Obama's ability to understand where both Russia and China are coming from and succeed in coming to some of 'business relationship' with these two fairly silent super powers will be his real test over time.

Unfortunately, the USA is NOT the only super power.......... although this was the common misconception over the last few years since the collapse of the 'Iron Curtain'.

We ignore the REAL threat of an expansionist Russia and a China resentful of the west for taking away their meteoric growth rates and newly found prosperity for millions of ordinary people(many Chinese rightly or wrongly blme us for their present problems).

Russia is a proud country that demands respect.

The Chinese are an industrious people with very long-term plans for the future.

I repeat that we ignore these two very powerful nations with their own ambitions at our peril - they pose a far greater threat than a bunch of terrorists blowing up a few buildings and even killing a few thousand people ever could....... millions could die if a good working relationship based on respect and mutual distrust is not quickly worked out with these two super powers!

ttom500: According to Newt Grinrich.....President Obama did not accomplish much.

He points out.....

President Obama sought military forces for Afghanistan from
NATO.............and got 5000 trainers for the Afghan police
force and two F-16s

President Obama tried to get Russia and China into a supporting greater UN sanctions on Iran. Neither supported the motion in the
Security Council.

President Obama gave a speech on nuclear disarmament and the North Korean launched a missile several hour prior. Attempted to enter Russia into nuclear talks, none were arranged.

President Obama sought to gain support from the G-20 regarding
the world's economic situation. That his stimulus plan, US budget,
and continued support for bailout of companies was the path to take. Yet few seem to join the continued spending spree to the degree that Obama desires.

Thoughts?
Well one thing he accomplished was telling the truth to the muslim countries,by saying he was one.So hes said he was christian while in America, then when in the muslim countries, hes muslim. He accomplished a lot toward globlization, but when then happens, dont be to sure it will be what anyone wants.

This post is so wrong. Yes they were saudis, but they were trained in camps in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda was based in Afghanistan and the Taliban supported their work. When asked to give them up the Taliban refused. Therefore we went to war with Afghanistan.

GWB didn't start the war with Iraq, Sodamn Insane started the war when he invaded Kuwait. George Bush Sr. stopped the push to Baghdad because they surrendered, but they never kept their end of the surrender. GWB returned to the original state of War after Sodamn Insane refused to comply with 14 U.N. Resolutions and terms of surrender.
