rusty_knight: Well, let's agree that we all make mistakes.........it's gone midnight here, and I have a lot to do tomorrow as a certain young lady is flying out to see me here on Good Friday (for 9 days woohoo!) and I'll be in trouble if the villa isn't spotless when she gets here!

Women!

Have a good one Rusty.....get that dust rag a polishing......

Not being a Navy man, Rusty. I may be off on what I am going to say. But remember hearing someplace that US carrier pilots are instructed to dump their bomb load prior to landing. Why?
Safety on board the ship.

What has happens when the aircraft hook catches the restraint wires.....tremedous G-Force is applied to the aircraft and any munition. That will sometime breaks the securing system of the munition. Now you got a free bomb or rocket on the flight deck.

Good point! Blowing up a few allies is one thing, blowing up a whole aircraft carrier when returning 'home' from an unsuccessful mission would be really inexcusable!

I have to admit that I like(d) Colin Powell; he'd have made a better President that GW Bush..... I think he was in the news a few days ago though for having been shown to have lied over something or other.dunno

Well, that's good to hear.............. but even Colin Powell sadlycould not change the rest of the world's negative attitude to the USA when his boss was Bush.

Colin Powell certainly seemed to be a calming influence - and certainly couldn't have been popular with those in the previous administration who saw nothing except in black and white and had the mentality:

'You're either for us or against us - if you're on our side do as we say.... if not you must be our enemy and watch it, buddy, or you'll be next on the list!'

Little Boy Blue,

Come blow your horn,

The sheep's in the meadow,

The cow's in the corn;

But where is the boy

Who looks after the sheep?

He's under a haycock,

Fast asleep.

Will you wake him?

No, not I,

For if I do,

He's sure to cry.

rolling on the floor laughing

Conrad - you and that american dude with his bottom up his bum bum bathed in pure unadulterated cunicism are a CS match made in heaven - you and I, and louisianraised, may be grumpy old farts but give the futile youth at least a few days or weeks of optimism before they sink to our own depths of despair and the awfulness of reality! tongue

I read the whole article; it was mainly positive and better to have 5,000 noncombatant troops with a defined role than 15,000 Italian troops in a combatant role but refusingf to leave their military bases!

Overall - a thumbs up only really negated by Russia and China's kick in his face response over North Korea; it seems we are back to the 'good old bad old days' when Russia and China are going to veto anything that might be decisive because of their own hidden agenda power plays - we can't exactly blame Obama for their refusal to cooperate when its not, apparently, in their own interests to suck up to the USA like us good Western European citizens!

NeWildflower: I see you typed something, but all it adds up to is blah blah blah. Especially after your comments yesterday to an American soldier. You should be completely ashamed of yourself, but of course you don't have the good sense to be. Nothing you say deserves an ounce of respect after that show of disdain.
Bash Bush all you want, but try to have a little respect for the people who are out there fighting this war.

So I need to worship your gods just to deserve your respect.

You know what? if you are curious about human happenings you would see the parallelism between what you are saying and what other people you call "anti-democratic" say about the absolute character of their gods.

Yes, and this war for oil and money is so holy for sure!!!
