Here's my opinion on Obama.He's a politician, and if you put your faith in him then you maybe riding for a fall.
Action speaks louder than words, so let's see if he has real convictions and does what is best for the American people who didn't even vote for him.
That will be the test, but given that he is already making stupid crass errors in judgement re bombing Pakistan with Drones then i fear frankly he maybe either taking duff advice, or be clueless when it comes to foriegn relations.
Time will tell, but the main thing to remember is keep your eyes on him to make he doesn't con you like previous people have.
I won't defend anyone on their politics...i just state the facts as ive already done.
The Iraq war, and that started in Afghanistan were shall we say started for not the reasons stated, and even the implementation of military action has been piss poor.

The way people talk about him reminds me a lot of Kennedy. Kennedy was a great speaker too and could invigorate people. Only time will tell if Obama will make a good president. Personally, I don't think he has enough political pull to carry it off. We shall see!------ This thread is Archived ------

woody636: Not sure if I agree with that or not. Hope is wonderful, I agree, but there has to be some substance - not all smoke and flash. We REALLY need someone who can get some changes made. Obama talks a good game, but can he deliver?? Not so sure. The proposals I've seen so far impact me in a really less then desireable way. Same with S.S., military health benefits, ect.. Granted, these are only proposals as yet, but what I see is the middle income getting taxed to death to help out the poor and the top dogs still get theirs with the loopholes.
Obama can't actually do anything..... it's up to the millions of people who are US citizens (apart from the rest of us in other countries) to make this world a better place; no single politician can get on stahe and wave a magic wand or pass a piece of legislation that solves any problems in itself.
The problems are way too serious for any simple solution........ so the ONLY thing of any impact that Obama can do is inspire people and try and prevent them from giving up hope which will only increase the downward economic spiral.
Financial markets are run, mostly, by human beings and reflect (above anything else) how people perceive the future...... if people perceive their glass in the future as being three quarters EMPTY or they perceive their glasses as being a quarter FULL the facts will be the same, but the markets will go UP instead of DOWN!

Then their capability mas deliberately misrepresented.The 45 minute claim as any military officer with use of chemical warheads ill be able to tell you is an artillery attack or mortar attack could be possible in 45 minutes.
Now last i saw a mortar, or an artillery piece i havent seen one that could fire from Iraq to Europe.

Were the weapons inspectors ever shut out of areas that the Iraqi government not want to inspect? Weren't these same inspectors kicked out of Iraq for nearly a year?
