Zee hasn't realised yet this is a debate on a forum, not a call from NATO or the UN for Americans to be forcibly disarmeddoh

So lets try to debate!!! But the issues, not state other ways to kill people with an egg whisk and then try to make out it's the same as a full auto firearm.

Remember, you cant kill people running away in all directions with a knife, a toaster, a crossbow, a dead rabbit....but sure as hell you maybe able to kill one person with ll of these....but the sentient point is that other people seeing a maniac doing this will have the ability to run away.

RobbieM: Maybe time to evaluate people properly and screen out nutters who want to own an AK47.

I can't think of one good reason to own an AK47.
I can, it's the work horse of civil conflict, but I agree the benefits do not out weight they risk to public safety.

RobbieM: I'd change availability...pistol or shotgun for home defence only.Single action rifles like the Remmington 700 available for hunting/sporting use.....nothing semi automatic.
There's not enough benefit to public safety to bother banning semi auto rifles while still allowing semi auto hand guns.

RobbieM: Nothing full auto available to the public, including anything that can be converted with "Tri Burst" triggers.
I agree.

RobbieM: No approval for carrying concealed weapons, whatsoever.....with a 25 year penalty for anyone being caught.
Typically, legally carried concealed weapon are not the problem, illegaly carried ones are. Termination of CCW permits would hinder self defense for people who are trying to protect themselves from a known threat.

RobbieM: Just adopting these rules along, there won't be old MAC10's finding their way into the hands of maniacs that can take their nice pride into a school and blow their classmates away.
Fully automatic weapons are already illegal here, but we do need to close the conversion loopholes, as you mentioned earlier.

Actually you can own a full auto firearm in the US. You just need to have a (so called) Class 3 license. To shoot one you do not need to be licensed, but the owner has to be.

I will say it again, ONLY US Citizens have the ability to change US laws. Non Americans (Those not having US Citizen status) have absolutely no say.

If it was true that all gun owners committed murder.... there would be 60 million murders a year and that is not the case.

The moral of this story is.... too bad so sad, live in your little bubble and leave our bubble alone.

RobbieM: So you don't see a problem with a "kid" being able to buy a MAC10 and go into school with it?

It's your right to have the ability to own a gun where you can have the ability to fire off 600 rounds a minute in a school?

How would you stop this then Zee?

Or just tell the parents of the kids or global warming would have killed them, or maybe a drunk moron crashing into a record store might have killed them?

Did you notice that the person in the vehicle once he crashed into the store was unable to drive around and kill everyone else?

Mind you if the person wound down the window with a loaded MAC10 ready he'd have the ability to kill anyone wanting to escape the car!

I'm afraid your argument doesn't hold water. But please feel free to suggest ways your fellow Americans can prevent others from having their kids killed in school by machineguns.

What do you want to do, give the teacher an Uzi in case a student looks pissed off?
A kid under 18 cant buy a firearm legaly. Gun ownership isnt the problem. the problem is all these stupid laws and these idots that say you cant punish your kids for doing something wrong. I learned how to shoot when I was three or four. Ive owned weapons sence I was twelve. But I was taught how to handle them and to respect them. I was also taught what is right and wrong. Todays kids are lucky if they were ever taught to wipe themselves

Arrest over gun used in Columbine massacre

Andrew Gumbel

Tuesday, 4 May 1999

A MAN was arrested yesterday on suspicion of supplying the semi- automatic pistol used in the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.

Mark Manes, 22, surrendered to authorities and was held on $15,000 bail. He could get up to six years in prison.

Manes was the first person since the massacre on 20 April to be accused of helping to arm the teenage killers, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who assembled an arsenal of four guns and more than 50 bombs.

Investigators said an employee at a pizza parlour where Harris and Klebold worked served as the middleman who put them in touch with Manes.

The arrest came 13 days after the attack in which Harris and Klebold - armed with a rifle, two sawn-off shotguns and the handgun - killed 12 students and a teacher and then committed suicide.

Columbine's pupils resumed classes yesterday, sharing facilities with a nearby school while hundreds of investigators continued to pore over the evidence in their shattered classrooms, cafeteria and library.

Nearly 2,000 Columbine pupils, with their teachers, took the afternoon shift at Chatfield High, just a short drive away, while Chatfield's students crammed their schedule into the morning.

Mental health counsellors were expected to be on hand in every classroom, and the normal curriculum was likely to be waived - yesterday, at least - in favour of a reassessment of the traumatic events of 20 April and their aftermath.

Traditionally, Columbine and Chatfield are rivals. But yesterday students from both schools were given blue and burgundy ribbons combining the colours of both institutions.

The arrangement presented considerable logistical problems - such as letting all the Chatfield cars leave before all the Columbine ones arrived - and police took several extraordinary security measures, such as changing all the locks and issuing special identification cards.

Some students were nervous that possible accomplices of Harris and Klebold might be in class with them. Investigators have neither confirmed nor ruled out the possibility of further suspects. But school officials said it was vital for the school to carry on as normally as possible and for seniors to graduate on schedule.

Local shops donated new school bags and books to replace the ones left inside the Columbine campus, which is still an active crime scene. Students who felt physically or psychologically unable to go to school were given official blessing to stay away. Five remain in hospital and 17 others are still recovering from serious gunshot and shrapnel wounds.

In the community of Littleton, attitudes towards Harris and Klebold appear to be polarising between anger and forgiveness. Last week, an Illinois carpenter, Greg Zanis, erected 15 crosses on a hill near the school. The two symbolising Harris and Klebold were soon pulled down. On Friday, he put up two new memorials to them, but when these too were vandalised he decided over the weekend to remove all 15.

So the easy answer if you want an illegal gun is ask someone to aquire one for you?

And any ideas of stopping this?

RobbieM: I'm not, but i hate to point out but are these foreigners using legal guns to kill people?

Maybe time to evaluate people properly and screen out nutters who want to own an AK47.

I can't think of one good reason to own an AK47.

As has been stated earlier,a standard NATO .556 round is designed not to kill specifically, it's rationale was to clog up Russian supply and logistics and make battlefield loses clog up and basically bog down an army.

A standard 7.62 round though, if your shot with this will drop you down for good. That's why some sniper rifles use this calibre. The issue is why American's tend to turn their guns on each other on such a regular basis, and how this could be stopped, and the loses minimised.

I'd change availability...pistol or shotgun for home defence only.

Single action rifles like the Remmington 700 available for hunting/sporting use.....nothing semi automatic.

Nothing full auto available to the public, including anything that can be converted with "Tri Burst" triggers.

Psychological assessment for approval of a gun permit.

No approval for carrying concealed weapons, whatsoever.....with a 25 year penalty for anyone being caught.

1. stabbing of a parish priest in South Wales last month,

2. be aware of the recent murders in Ipswich. For non-UK visitors, in recent weeks a serial killer has murdered 5 women. Their battered bodies have all been discovered in rural areas on the outskirts of this small town. Ipswich is the county town of Suffolk, on the east coast of England (not very far from London).

3. Friday, September 1, 2006

A man has been arrested in connection with the murders of a mother and her three children. The thirty-six year-old was arrested at Heathrow Airport this morning. He was leaving an incoming flight from Bangkok, Thailand.

It is believed that the man arrested is Rahan Arshad, the husband and father of the victims. He is expected to be taken to Manchester, England for questioning later today.

The bodies of thirty-two year-old Uzma Rahan and her three children were found in their home in Cheadle Hulme in Greater Manchester on August 20. Police think the four bodies had been there for up to four weeks.

4. Naples students produce map of mafia murders
NAPLES, Italy -- Art students in Naples have produced a map locating recent murders by the Camorra to underscore the local mafia’s deadly presence in the southern Italian city, one of the organisers said Friday. “Our aim is to denounce the grip of the mafia on our city,” Orazio Manzo told AFP. The fold-out map pinpoints the sites of some 40 murders attributed to the Camorra mafia between 2005 and 2007, giving the victims’ names and the times and dates of their deaths.

5. Teenage binge drinking linked to serious crimes
[28th March 2008]
A survey in the North-West of England has found that teenagers are drinking an average of 44 bottles of wine or 177 pints of beer each per year.

Recent murders in the region were committed by young people who had been drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. This week a 15-year old was convicted of murdering Sophie Lancaster, after drinking two litres of cider, peach schnapps and beer.

6. Police in North Yorkshire are due to question a man who has been arrested on suspicion of two double murders.
Mark Hobson, 34, was arrested on Sunday following a week-long manhunt, after buying matches at a petrol station before the owner tipped off police.

It is understood he spent the night in hospital with an abdominal injury.

Police are due to begin questioning him about the murders of twin sisters Claire and Diane Sanderson, as well as pensioners James and Joan Britton.

jlw45: vinny and robbie, the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting ducks, or hunting dear...or for that matter, it has just a little do with home protection...but, that is a small part of it...the amendment is about citizens having the right to protect themselves from their own government....

can anyone say "tienanmen square"???....

Yeah I just said it.........rolling on the floor laughing

Hi Joel........wave

Believe me I understand Americans rights to bear arms. I have read quite a few threads on CS about this, and I do respect peoples opinions on it.
I am just of the opinion that the less guns there are, the less killing there is........dunno

Personally I think the second amendment was written at a time when it was needed............

JMO

Hope your well Bud.........cheers
