jlw45: vinny and robbie, the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting ducks, or hunting dear...or for that matter, it has just a little do with home protection...but, that is a small part of it...the amendment is about citizens having the right to protect themselves from their own government....
can anyone say "tienanmen square"???....
Joel, i'm still making the point on what types of weapons should be available to the general public.
Because believe me a guy with a rifle isn't going to be able to go up against a mechanised Unit armed with SOPMOD kits, tear gas and night vision equipment with air support.
Quite simply you either have to feel paranoid that your own Government is after you, or maybe be practical and not worry that everyone out their including any person will pull a gun and want to shoot you!
Your far more likely to be shot by a fellow american for looking at his girlfriend outside a club, or at an ATM, or god forbid mowed down by a nutter with problems who wasn't screened out and had the right to buy a MAC10.

Conrad73: What are Slugs doing on a Range for Clays?
Ah, visit corporate hospitality and the hunting set and you'll find that these people also are landowners!
Thus the slugs for pest control on farms.
Sadly i've seen this mistake myself near me which proves some people are incompetent and shouldn't be allowed near weapons.
This happening on the Thames near a bridge doesn't even bare thinking about. Thus my Thoughts on the Port Of London Authority being pissed off with the idea.
Mistakes happen, but then exposure is much lighter, making accidents far more rare!

They punch some pretty nasty holes. Seen a 12-Gauge Slug go through three Sheets of 3/32 " Steel (Old Beverage Truck).

Something to think about,a 30-06 will penatrate most bodyarmor! Hunting rifles have more power than most military/entry weapons. most military weapons are desinged to injure than instatly kill,1 injured takes 3 out of the fight. hunting guns are desined to kill as quick as possable, correct sized cartride for the target=instant kill. Hunting rifle + nutjob = many kills from a distance. Had the "DC sniper" used a 308(Ar10 or a bolt action) most of the people shot would have died!!

It's actually the ammunition, not the caliber of the firearm. Military ammo is full metal jacket, meant to put a nice clean hole straight through. Hunting ammo is made in a way as to open up upon impact, or mushroom, doing far more damage, and leaving a substantially larger hole when exiting, if it does at all. Many of the bullets actually slow down from the drag created when they mushroom, and don't go through.
Another thing about steel shot for shotguns, it was introduced here in Canada because lead shot was poisoning waterfowl, as well as lakes, ponds and the remainder of the habitat. Good for the birds, but mot so great for the barrel of your favorite 12 gauge, even worse if it's rifled.
In response to: Recently Michigan, another mad person went off the rails and took his gun out and decided to shoot some people for no reason whatsoever.
Do you believe it's about time that gun ownership was made more difficult for United States citizens?
How many more people need to die needlessly before gun control is instigated?
Yes we can and should do more to stop the loss of life in senseless and unnecessary killings. The tragedy as well as the staggering numbers should provide an impetus to find solutions. The problem isn't ownership. We have very violent crime rates even without guns. We need to find solutions to our problems and not place blame on inanimate objects. It's the culure that creates the criminal. Lets work on that and leave the vast majority of law abiding citizens alone.

During that amount of unknown time which made you 'nonsensical', do you know if you happened to have gone out and purchased a gun and if you might suspect that you did, what caliber was it and where is it now??????????

i am glad you finished with that last sentence.... you were starting to worry me that you might be going over to the dark side.
I am now cleaning my German made Walther P99QA in .40 S&W. As soon as I am done with it and have it put away, I am going to be sharpening my Speed Blade.
