druidess6308: I'll disagree on making gun possession mandatory, though, Adam. It's a free country...we should have the right to choose whether or not to own a gun, but we should never force anyone to do so. I don't believe in infringement on one's rights in either direction.
i wasn't actually serious on the last part of that comment i am sorry for it being so misleading

YouMeUs: I think here in Kentucky, we have a great "gun control" system. I wear a gun on my hip freely if I choose and, the crime rate around here (my neighborhood) is practiaclly non-existant. For those not knowing, we are allowed to bear arms as long as they are visible. However, concealed weapons are against the law.
Galactic_bodhi: Which makes me wonder if these things aren't the actions of Intelligence provocateurs, seeking to bolster support for gun control out of fear.
The only thing that makes me afraid is the government taking away my ability to defend myself. Everything else, is just rhetoric.
Exactly - provocateurs, they run the media and everyting.......
Guns must be a really powerful right to lose - as I said, they disarmed us a few yrs ago but never having had that right as a matter of public interest, it went by most peoples minds - I was personally apalled......

Big_John: I'm keeping my guns. I will fight to keep everyone to have the right to acquire guns. I am totally against gun control. Period.
If you were permitted to have a gun I dont know why your against a law that controls idiots from getting their hands on them to cause mayhem and pain and trauma to families for the rest of their lives

As Rilly said earlier, to paraphrase: A bus is a lethal weapon. Should we outlaw buses? IF a maniac wants to kill people, keeping a gun out of his hand won't stop him, it will just make the body count and the atrocity that much more traumatic, because they will use household items to do so.
Gasoline and jello make a fairly decent domestic napalm.
Playdough, Gelatin, and potassium nitrate (saltpeter) make a fairly decent domestic plastique.

No one is ever happy with a law. It will have holes in it. The law would be changed, improved, modified and try to totally eliminate guns in the long run.

I just think differently I spose the same as we have Kangaroos and you have guns I spose
PeachesandRay: In some states such as NH and here in NC, a permit is required to carry concealed. I have one for NH
Yes, and sorry I did not include that, it is here as well, but we don't need any permit to wear a gun as long as it is visible. We must register any and all guns we purchase, however.
On a few occasions, while in a local store stocking up on supplies to go 4 wheeling, and wearing a loaded side arm, I've had deputy sheriff's ask to see my gun. Most conversations that took place was having them tell me they own or have owned similar ones to mine. Then they would show me their issued weapon and compare them. Have had some good conversations without any worry if disarmament or being treated like some criminal and it is a good feeling.
I take pride in having the right to bear arms and I certainly would feel unsafe without them while knowing criminals will carry them.
