Fallingman: I'm not sure Fox news constitutes intelligence!

Fox News has little if any impact on me, I'm partial to CNN for my worldly news and my local channels for the rest. As I have said....I am neither Rep. or Dem. I am for the one whose values, morals, and way of thinking, closest, match up to my own.wave cheers

sweetowen: Are you talking to me wixie? If you call picking up roots, losing friends & moving to a whole new world & culture every couple of years enjoying the free ride, I guess you're right. If you call not knowing if your father or any of your uncles were going to be called to war during Vietnam, I guess you're right. If you call being treated as one of the troops at home & having to go as far as saying yes sir & no sir a free ride, I guess you're right.

BTW, my father was career Air Force... served 17 1/2 years. He would've served much longer, but suffered an aneurysm at the office one day.

Don't let it get to you Owen. There is a school of "thought" at work here that says if you didn't serve in the army you know nothing and are not fit for office. The same guys think that the country should be run for the benefit of the military yet spout on about the constitution and the freedom that America represents. But they don't see this as contradictory. No disrespect to people in the Army...they are as good as any others...but they are no better!

Ok...that's a point of view. You are entitled to it. I still think you are a bit harsh on Obama though. cheers

Fallingman: Seems to me that O'Bama is a good public speaker, reasonably smart and politically centrist. Your forefathers might be surprised about the country you live in but I doubt they would pick on O'bama as the worst thing about it!

Does this mean Obama's forefathers came from Ireland???laugh

sweetowen: My personal forefathers also fought for our country & freedom. My father was in the USAF during the Vietnam Conflict. He saw the demise of our country during the Bush Administration. When I talk politics with him, he couldn't be happier that Bush is out & Obama is trying to turn our battered economy & country back around. He just needs time. We gave Bush 8 years to ruin us, we should at least give Obama that much time, shouldn't we?

I also had a grandfather in the Merchant Marines, one uncle in the Navy, one in the Army, & one in the Marines. If my family doesn't love their country, I don't know whose does.

You have every reason to be proud of your family. I was in the Navy AND LATER the Merchant Marines. All I will say about the guy is BEWARE...he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. IMO Time will tell if I am right or wrong in my belief.hug teddybear bouquet

BTW this is the 2nd response to you...my pc froze up a few minutes ago and I had to redo! lol

Time will tell! I don't mean or intend to be harsh, although I can be from time to time. I alway's try to be fair, but sometimes I err. I'm human after all. All I will say is BEWARE! You have heard the term, 'wolf in sheep's clothing,' I'm sure.wave cheers

I hope you'll include the Democratic party as a thing of the past as well, T? There is no practical difference between the two any longer. And there certainly is no "fresh breeze of change" blowing through Washington these days. That breeze is about as stale as the moldy air in my windowless storage shack. Look at who's in his administration. All the same power-brokers/familiar power-hungry faces. And Obama's policies could be accurately described as the Bush Administration March to Facism, The Sequel. He's continuing pretty much all of Bush's policies, and even expanding on them. All that's changed is the tan and the nice smile and the lack of verbal gaffes. dunno confused

AMEN!!!! applause
The republican party is in melt down and becomming ever more fragmented and irelevent. Now if we could just get rid of those damn Democrats too we could get a REAL represenative and constitutional government restored in the U.S. (though I can't imagine what diffrence it makes to someone in sweden). The strangle hold duoloply on power those two parties have held on our government has eroded our republic and has left our founding fathers shaking their heads in shame and their fists in anger at the disgusting shape we have allowed their creation to become, they would never have stood for a fraction of what we tolerate from the government today.
No more Republicans, No more Democrats.
Real change for the U.S.

StressFree: How does it feel? Personally I like it. I also feel that true change is in it's infancy stage. Just wait 20-40 years. The young generation is mostly registered as independents...meaning that a new Political Party is just waiting to happen and take over.
We need a new Political Party to oppose the Dems-Rebubs...and not no Socialist Party...

The Republican Party will be a thing of the past, much like the Whig Party and Federalist Party.

Discuss...

and one more time, everybody together...

REPUBLICAN RULE NO MORE
