Gotta admit, the bugs would be a challenge for me. To see the wildlife and birdlife would almost make it worthwhile.

My idea of a perfect thing to do would be to take a trip down to Kentucky & Tenn and visit the mountains.Maybe rent a cabin and go horseback riding, camping and fishing.

Next week I'm going on acouple day fishing and camping trip just to get away from my computer to relax and unwind.

livinglarge: Well mixing with locals is big on my agenda ,

no matter where I go ,that is number one . I don't do the laying

on the beach thing although I did have a fab holiday in Turkey

doing just that (sometimes) so that can be nice too ,each to his own .

I am not some sort of armchair anthrpologist , in that I mean I

like to experience the culture first hand and like to travel

to different places ,hence my love for Canada , it is vast ,beautiful and most areas are different . For example NFLD

is so very different not only in micro culture bur macro also.

My trip to India is not exactly planned but that me . I go where
my nose takes me and I wing it.

Of course this holiday (when i can go) is going to be frought
with issues that I haven't encountered ,language being one of

them .Though I was in Turkey ,I was with my boyfriend and six

others ,however this time (India) I will travel on my own ,so it will be interesting .

So in sumary for me the perfect holiday is 1) culture 2) food

3) travelling around .
be a chalange, English is spoken there

daydream Would love to do all that.

But these days I don't have a travelling partner. moping

I mean, someone I'd feel happy to go places with.

Another adventure into the mountains of British Columbia and southern Alaska. Using the logging roads to access the back country. So peaceful and relaxing way to rough it. Cheers.

My idea of a perfect getaway would simply be somewhere quiet, no kids, no interruptions, no phone calls, no visitors, just me and Slim enjoying the nature and time together.grin happy place

I've done this too and really enjoyed it. Sometimes even just a special weekend away together at a bed and breakfast.

No special man in my life to enjoy this with anymore....blues

Enjoy! beer

I like the woods, or secluded beach. either one is a getaway for me. I do not like vacationing with a lot of people to bump into.

The Island of Crete is paradise to me.

Beautiful beaches, food, people.

Just chill on the beach with a good book for the day.

Stroll through the town on a balmy evening deciding which restaurant to have dinner in. Sipping a cold glass of wine in a beachfront bar.

Laura25: Would love to do all that.

Hi Laura wave

But that is my whole point .You do not need another to go travelling. It wouldn't have entered my head to travel alone , however a friend let me down on a planned and payed for holiday ,
it really wasn't their fault .So I had to make the best out of an awful situation. I went on my own and never had a moment of loneliness as I got out there and met people .

It was a truely life changing experience , I think differently about what I can't do now .If fact there are not many can't do's
now. I see my relationships as adding to my life, however ,they are not the be all and end all of my life .Not saying yours are ,please don't get me wrong . But travelling alone frees you
in every aspect of your life IMO .There is no going back ,my sister wants to come travelling with me when I return to Canda or where ever but I am kinda put out by that to be honest .I love my sis and she is a good laugh but it will be much different than taking off on my own dunno

Anyone can travel alone if they have their head screwed on and is mindful of the pitfalls out there for the lone travelerhug

I do believe it would be for me too, LL.

It does sound grand and impressive in many aspects. I think I might like it - traveling alone.

But absolutely can't imagine evenings and dinners alone. This part would ruin it for me.

You wouldn't have to eat dinner alone . There are so many fellow travelers who are only to happy to go out socialise ,go to cafes
day trips ect .

The only time I am alone when I travel is when I want to be.Really that is the situation .

I think you would love it and that you would meet many folk who are nice decent people .
