livinglarge: Well mixing with locals is big on my agenda ,
no matter where I go ,that is number one . I don't do the laying
on the beach thing although I did have a fab holiday in Turkey
doing just that (sometimes) so that can be nice too ,each to his own .
I am not some sort of armchair anthrpologist , in that I mean I
like to experience the culture first hand and like to travel
to different places ,hence my love for Canada , it is vast ,beautiful and most areas are different . For example NFLD
is so very different not only in micro culture bur macro also.
My trip to India is not exactly planned but that me . I go where
my nose takes me and I wing it.
Of course this holiday (when i can go) is going to be frought
with issues that I haven't encountered ,language being one of
them .Though I was in Turkey ,I was with my boyfriend and six
others ,however this time (India) I will travel on my own ,so it will be interesting .
So in sumary for me the perfect holiday is 1) culture 2) food
3) travelling around .
be a chalange, English is spoken there

That is how I travel myself, no down to the detail itinary for me - going to India in February 2010 but to Goa I believe which is very different even though one country, from what i read and heard from my friend i think I can deal with Goa - i know it will be more fun for me, i am a city girl so huge amounts of poverty and bucket systems wont be too exciting for me and i will be travelling alone as well but to see a friend, very excited. If you go somewhere what do you do? Crash on a beach with a good book and lots of suntan lotion? Learn about the local culture? Maybe try something new - take up scuba diving, snorkeling or hang gliding?

I'm not one for laying on a beach either. I'd rather be out doing stuff, camera in hand. Not a big shopper other than maybe for a token T-shirt. I would be the one learning to ride an elephant or swimming with the manta rays (depending where I am).Enjoy your trip!

English has become an International Language, I have Traveled quite alot, and believe me, this is no problem at all!
