OneKitty: Sorry to interupt, but religion grew as mankind grew. Look into nearly ALL of the today's world religions and you will see that they all evolved from the same concept: Many gods to to only one supreme being People were pretty confused before science and they worshiped the supreme being in many ways giving it many names and genders. Now it has boiled down to only one for most. Read up on it.
God came first, then came the existential struggle that all mankind shares across every cultural and ethnic background throughout the centuries. The existential questions inevitibly lead us to God, in by the very nature of his name GOD can be only one.
We have seen his Glory and testify to it. We do not follow clever ideas of men when we speak of what we have been shown by the Father himself, rather we speak the words of him who is forever praised.
since your view leaves you without answers to the burning questions within your heart. Where will you find the answers? Or will you just give up and decide that life has no meaning, that we will all just suffer and die to no avail? That kind of a world view and life is far to brutal to be the truth, and just as the existential struggle within you cries out that there has simply got to be more to life, I say that you are absolutely right! There is.

Yes, I know, but for those that struggle with the concept, I offer the cultural history for better understanding (as cited above). Dear writer, sometimes a person has to grasp the concept and grow with it, you know? If you consider yourself a teacher or similar, I am sure you would agree.

You write:
"We have seen his Glory and testify to it. We do not follow clever ideas of men when we speak of what we have been shown by the Father himself, rather we speak the words of him who is forever praised."
Who is/are 'we'. What Glory have YOU seen? What is YOUR testimony?
You write:
"since your view leaves you without answers to the burning questions within your heart. Where will you find the answers? Or will you just give up and decide that life has no meaning, that we will all just suffer and die to no avail?"
I believe in life and I believe life is wonderful and I believe I already have eternal life through my genes . My genes are part of the universe of life and they don't need an individual ego to stay alive; withing my genes are buried the memories of a million million years and wonders far greater thyan anything in some book written by some primitive man/men. My genes are almost indestructible. My genes shall live until the universe dies.
Blues63: Was he crucified for our sins? The Romans crucified him for inciting insurrection, hence the inscription 'Invictus Nostra Rex Iudea' : Our invincible king of Judea.
Actually the inscription was "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum". "Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews".

Boban1: Ok.. I have to say that i have no education ....so I`m asking you people
When was the Bible written???????
The various books of the Old Testament claim to have been written over a span of over 3000 years from Adam to Esther. But linguistic evidence proves that the entire OT was written at the same time using the square lettered Hebrew text that didn't exist until about 400 BC. No evidence of earlier texts has ever been found.
The New Testament was written in Greek in the first century AD.
or are you speaking of living through your childeren and thier childerens childeren? Although, that in itself takes a huge amount of faith. Waht makes you feel that that view holds anything greater than spiritual eternal life? What is the payoff, or what do you get by believing that your genes carry you through somehow that is better than eternal life spiritually?
First known copy to gather all the traditions into one place was that known as the Septuagint, written by Jews in Alexandria for deposit in the famous library built by Ptolemy (I)...I think, couldn't be bothered to look it up.
The Septuagint (pronounced /'s?pt?.?d??nt/), or simply "LXX", referred to in critical works by the abbreviation , is the Koine Greek version of the Hebrew Bible, translated in stages between the 3rd and 1st centuries BCE in Alexandria. It was begun by the third century BCE and completed before 132 BCE.
It is the oldest of several ancient translations of the Hebrew Bible into Greek, lingua franca of the eastern Mediterranean Basin from the time of Alexander the Great (356-323 BCE).

these are just the oldest translations we have. Meaning that they were translated from another text.

Good point...haven't translated any of the Vulgate for years...my memory is not what it was. Whatever the case, it does not change my point, id est, that Jesus was crucified for insurrection, if not the case the mockery would lack substance.
