Ambrose2007: Do you truly believe that love for others comes from being commanded to do that by a god - that you care about something because you're being commanded to care??
Wouldn't that make a mockery of what love and caring truly are?
The definition of love varies according to the situation.
You can't "love" someone romantically at will. But you can surely show them compassionate love.
Jesus said to love even your "enemies". And that CAN be done at will.
We can decide to show people love. Not just politeness, but genuine concern and compassion.
It's not a cold "order" to love others. And God doesn't make us do it.
But it's the way to avoid hatred and create understanding and build a bond where none existed.
The hippies weren't being tyrannical when they said "make love not war".
And God is not a tyrant when he tells us to love either.
calmheartseeks: I wouldn't do anything to a poster starting threads on other beliefs. It's an open forum, thank goodness!!! As for how many threads or topics in one belief system people are allowed to have, that it is up for the moderators to set as it is their site. I understand that you don't like bashing threads. Most people don't, and I agree with you there. I do think it's possible to just discuss, but obviously very difficult. What I don't understand is people who don't like a thread jumping in to cause dissension. Just ignore it. There are lot of threads on CS I don't particularly like but I don't jump in and say so.
That is my whole point we can come in and say we disagree this is too much and has gone too far, it is human nature. If people are being a little bit mischievous in an amusing way fair enough. If you are going to try to zap me by a burning flame, I however shall laugh and retort with absolute madness created in this head of mine. Sometimes what people have said on these religious forums have been rather amusing not to say the least and very funny But we also have to remember people are all different on here, some we warm to, others are simply not of the same ilk as ourselves.
lovinglaura: I have never heard so many aweful and hurtful comments about our God before in my life. It saddens me to see that the people that Jesus Christ died for are still mocking him and rejecting him. Nobody else will ever love you as much as he does, so how can you make jokes about the one who suffered a horrible death on Calvery just so you could have a shot at going to Heaven. I do not understand this rejection and non-belief.
My, you really have been brainwashed.
You say that you don't understad non-belief. Really? You can't understand how someone with knowledge could read the bible and come to the conlusion that it is not real? That is a very closed minded attitude. Perhaps you should read some other books, besides the bible? Even if it just to be educated enough to have a 'valid' and informed argument.
As a Christian, you really should know the full history of your religion, which is not only contained in the bible. There are many other books. You should really educate yourself on the subject, before you gey into a debate about it.
alexey8: Should we start to talk about sports again?
my love for sports goes back oh a long way, must of been 5 maybe 6. always watched the olympics, football, formula one, rugby, boxing, love it I do, especially the 4x100m. Now that Michael Johnson was amazing but The Lightening Bolt (Usain Bent) is really something else. Oh and Ed Moses the hurdle runner during the 80's and 90's, and so so much more.

She doesn't understand non-belief because to her she has so much reason for belief. Her question was to honestly understand why other people did not feel the same. You claim she 'does not have knowlege' because of what she believes. How do you know what she has studied and the full extent of her understanding? As for researching the full history of religion, perhaps she has done so and come to a different conclusion that you have.
You presented some "facts" in another thread that are debatable about Christianity and paganism. Okay, you believe they are true, I understand that an it is your right. But there is good argument that they are false. I won't go into it here, each one does their own research and comes to their own belief. That should be respected.
You call her close minded because she asks a question to learn more about what others believe? Most of us are still learning, and don't claim to have all the answers.
kidatheart: Sure, and they are good, almost as good as French toast with cinnamom, cardamom and a splash of vanilla, slathered in butter with some strawberry jam.

Rubin Kazan lost to Inter Milan in the Champions League, and will not be continuing on.
