Hey me and LV follow the rules of free thinking. I don't agree with all she says, and if she laid down rules I would be very amazed by that.

wildatheart2: My, you really have been brainwashed.

You say that you don't understad non-belief. Really?
You can't understand how someone with knowledge could read the bible and come to the conlusion that it is not real?
That is a very closed minded attitude.
Perhaps you should read some other books, besides the bible?
Even if it just to be educated enough to have a 'valid' and informed argument.

As a Christian, you really should know the full history of your religion, which is not only contained in the bible.
There are many other books.
You should really educate yourself on the subject, before you gey into a debate about it.

I couldn't have said it better. But alas...that advice just falls on deaf ears it seems.

teacherman:
Bush did not do us any favors in the image market. I wasn't around for Pearl Harbor but I can only imagine that our feelings as Americans was much the same on 9/11 as it was on 12/7.

That's no coincidence. In a white paper by a NeoCon stink-tank called Project for a New American Century (strongly linked to the Council on Foreign Relations), in a section entitled Rebuilding America's Defenses, the study called for massive militarization of American Society and heavy deployment around the world. But it lamented that such measures wouldn't be approved of by the American people unless there were some "catastrophic and catalyzing event, like a new Pearl Harbor."

That study came out in 2000 and right away plans for the invasion of Afghanistan and Irak began. But how could the US invade poor defenseless countries without provocation.

And then just in the nick of time, like a bolt out of the blue, the needed "catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor" appeared as if by magic in the form of 911. What a lucky coincidence huh?

calmheartseeks: She doesn't understand non-belief because to her she has so much reason for belief. Her question was to honestly understand why other people did not feel the same. You claim she 'does not have knowlege' because of what she believes. How do you know what she has studied and the full extent of her understanding? As for researching the full history of religion, perhaps she has done so and come to a different conclusion that you have.

You presented some "facts" in another thread that are debatable about Christianity and paganism. Okay, you believe they are true, I understand that an it is your right. But there is good argument that they are false. I won't go into it here, each one does their own research and comes to their own belief. That should be respected.

You call her close minded because she asks a question to learn more about what others believe? Most of us are still learning, and don't claim to have all the answers.

Hi,

Firstly, I did not claim that she does not have knowledge 'BECAUSE' of what she believes in.
My point was that she didn't seem to have ALL of the information in order to make an informed decision.

Secondly, I presented a 'theory' in the other thread, I would not be so arogant as to call them 'facts'.
There are holes in every theory. That's why they are so-called.

I just think that if one is to present something as absolute fact whatever it be, one should be able to back up the argument on all sides.

Thank you.

You're a dangerous heretic.

Faith is the suspension of logic.

Generally the more education you have the less you believe. Poverty stricken places with high illiteracy such as Haiti have 98% church attendance.

Do you believe the world was created in 8 days? The bible is full of lies but some will believe anything they are fed.
