friends4now: I am wanting to write a memoir of my life-up to this point-while I can still remember most details.
Have any of you ever attempted such a thing or know where I can get some organization ideas?I don't have the time to take a creative writing class and there aren't any offered next term anyway so any advice anyone here has would be very appreciatedemail me if you choose toothank you
I have been compelled to write all my life, and it can be difficult to organize...
I find that I think of certain episodes, or "vignettes", scenes, that happened in my life, and just write specifically about each of those; you can think of it as an essay, or possibly a chapter.
By utilizing the computer, maybe using Word, you can write all of these chapters separately, then organize them later. Give each a descriptive title; then later on, rename them, including a number to help you organize the chapters.
Write down everything.....then sort and organize. To try to structure now will cause things to be missed.....it controls the flow of thought.......empty your mind on paper and then organze...and as new things pop....write them down.....when you reorganize place them where proper in events.
thank you all for your great advice-I have read all your posts but don't want a list of ME writing you each back individually which I hope you understand
its really appreciated this has been something I have been thinking about the past year and I know it will end up as something my children will cherish as they too get older
**I am so happy I have a tablet notebook I just flip the screen and write with a stylus so much easier and "greener" than all the paper I would use
Thanks again and maybe when I finish a chapter I will post it

I know a guy who's doing a book, and he bought a tape recorder and is speaking his life story on tape and has an editor who's gonna edit it for him.He just talks whatever comes to mind. One day it can be when he was a teenager, another day something that happened maybe 2 years ago,not organized at all....the editor will organize it.
The reason is because he's a terrible writer and can't spell well.

Nice! I use WACOM Intuos 2 graphics tablet, wouldn't want to be without one.
Good luck on your writings and don't forget to make back up copies to disc, JIC.
I write alot. For many years I kept an online diary. I would see something rather innocuous, and start to write about it, that would somehow spark a memory, and *wham* a chapter on something from my life. Sure it wasn't in order, but if I chose to do so, it would be easy to rearrange. Hope you enjoy doing it, remember though, even if it's a sad memory, it's a part of you and makes you who you are, don't let that slow you down any.

Mine is a simple HP tx2z and I love it-I like taking out the light-scribe and using a space saver-i love the tablet even though it lags and can now type better with the smaller keyboard. the fingerprint reader is great the sound quality of the speakers for such a small computer is really good the only thing i CANT do is actually watch videos or anything the screen is a matte type and it is a bit fuzzy even without fingerprints
