stefonline: It is nice when Men take some pride in their appearance without coming accross as being vain....personally I like a Man to dress nice be freshly showered and wear cologne....it can do a lot for a woman....
Obviously if he is working during the day and he's hands on being a labourer etc he is going to be somewhat ruffled around the edges but at the end of the day he can come out looking like a new pin and smelling like a rose...
It is nice for all of us to make an effort to look at least half decent...if not for others just for ourselves....

singstar13: wow... really... instead of worrying about looks, think about personality, miss california. looks aren't that important. and i know i'm not that great looking, but i dont worry what the guys i date look like. maybe you should think less of look and smell and think more of how the guy treats you....
Of course you would want a guy to treat you well....that goes without saying.....but if he looks good and smells good then he is going to be more attractive to you....works well in his favour if you know what I mean.....

From my personal experience I can honestly say that I meet a lot of cheesy and chubby guys every single day. Then I wonder.. why dont you change your life? Maybe go work out 3 times a week to build athletic body.. or maybe buy a little bit better clothes.. or buy some nice perfumes? Men have a great deal of capacity for making themselves attractive.. you just have start taking care of yourself and then you will encounter no problems in finding your second half.

to be quite honest, you left out something incredibly important in that little piece of advice. don't get me wrong, it's good advice but it's a little superficial (JMO).
I think the most important thing in a potential partner is confidence. Whilst taking care of appearance helps, it's more an issue of taking care of the inside first and foremost. If you love yourself first (not in a narcissistic way of course) others will love you too. People don't like it when a person doesn't like themselves and whines about it. It's quite depressing to be around such a person...I know cos I was one of them and I never got anything out of it except people being annoyed with me lol...now I just accept myself the way I am and if anyone doesn't like it, sod 'em again JMO
