Mr Berlusconi was knocked to the ground and he came up bleeding with two teeth damaged. What you think on the incident, do you think the PM was not protected enough? Do you think it’s a humiliating a head of a state? Or you think he deserve it? What is your view on the knock out?

It's news to me.
Berlusconi is obviously a crook and manipulates his media empire to increase his chance of staying in power; the funny thing is many Italians approve of him.
There has been very little stability in Italian politics since WW2, and I guess many Italians think of him as bringing stability to Italian politics even if he is the biggest known crook in their system.
Mind you, we ALL have crooked politicians, don't we?

I did not know of this. Darn, too busy a weekend, and no watching SBS news. What happened?

RobertC2: He got back into office quite quickly; as I said he exemplifies stability to the majority of Italians......... I do believe he's been indirectly PROVED to be a crook though - a Brit has been convicted for accepting bribes from Berlusconi, I believe.
At one time there were so many changes in Italian governments that the average government was in power for less than a year since WW2.
Italy is a great advertisement on why NOT to have a certain form of proportional representation - even though our (the UK) method of electoral success is 'first past the post' so that somebody with a minority of votes can get elected and a party with a significant percentage of votes have no elected MP. At least the BNP hasn't got into the UK House of Commons - even if they have two MEP's! (Members of the European Parliament).
Yes, I am not disputing all the allegations that have been flying around Berlusconi. No doubt it will be continued to be played out in the courts.
But he is a good statesman when all is said and done.
And a leader. Which is something Italy has lacked for so long.
The far left element are a dangerous lot. They like to detroy, and have nothing constructive to offer.

It has to stop.
They showed the scene several times. Berlusconi looked stunned, and his face all bloodied. It was a chaotic scene.
venere08: I have full blood Italian coarsing through my veins.
None can argue on that, it can be seen on your face’s beauty. however, your second comment is making us think that maybe you know the PM much better than many of us here. so we have to just hop that u are not on the list
gabrielle95: It could be a complete set up organised by his publicity services. This is good promotion to have people pity him and reinforce their support.
Oh, Yes.
And we all know we did not land on the moon, right?????

I agree with your here venere08. Berlusconi is undoubtedly corrupt (but then again, show me a politician who isn't?), but he's the ONLY leader that Italy has produced since the times of Mussolini.
The rest of the Prime Ministers there have all led shaky coalition governments that have fallen within months of being elected, and so far Berlusconi has been the only one to hang onto power for more than a year.
He was ousted down soon after his first election, but he was elected with a good majority after the successive leftist government made a hash of running the country.
Sure Berlusconi shamelessly uses his media empire to promote himself, but he'd be a fool not to. I watch a lot of Italian tv & news, so I follow these happenings closely.
While I don't agree with everything Berlusconi stands for, I have no doubts where my vote would go were I Italian.

Beleive me, I worked in publicity and in politics. You can't imagine what people would do to have media talk about them. Bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. Berlusconi's image was a little scratched lately. Nothing better than a fake attack to raise his popularity.

so you still doubting the reality of the incident???

Hey W...evening....I do too...follow what is happening in Italy....and I disagree with the undoubtedly corrupt thingy.....if he were...he would have been already hammered.....
...the left wing elements of Italian judiciary have been trying hard enough as it is......if there was any real foundations of corruption do you really believe they wouldn't have slammed him?
The man is certainly flamboyant, definitely a businessman, and somewhat of a clown too.....but he is the only thing that has given Italy a stable government since WW2....
and just for the record....his first term in office was ended abruptly when Lega Nord of Bossi split the coalition then....since then differences have been sorted out and they do make part of the present Gov that Berlusconi runs.
