The ones that support him are those who live under the illusion that they will get something for nothing and without strings. Money really does grow on trees, Obama can spin straw into gold and there really is a goose that lays golden eggs. You just gotta believe son!

I believe in him and I expect to receive nothing from the programs, but I truly believe we need to help others. I see nothing wrong with Medicare, Social Security and other programs designed to assist others. Just like when those programs were being voting on, many found them wrong. Today they are a life blood to many of our neighbors.

There will alway people who dislike whoever is in the White House. It is far easier to complain about something than to find what is good. I hope y'all are out in the public doing something about it and not just flapping your lip.

Let's see, Social Security went into the red in December and medicare went into the red last September. With 24M boomers scheduled to retire by 2019 and only 12M new workers comming into the workforce over the same time period, that ought to work real well, particularly given the fact that there are no trust funds remaining to back them up. If you like paying 20% interest on loans, I guess you can be sympathic with your pocket book. Even the actuaries on the original social security legislation said it was unsustainable if there were less than 6.5 workers for every one receiving benifits and it was originally scheduled to sunset in 1954.

So what is your point? That Congress doesn't know how to manage its budget. Both parties are guilty of that! There is nothing wrong with Social Security. It is giving many older people the resources to stay alive.

The point is that Social Security/medicare/medicade are going broke and those receiving those benifits will continue to get less and less. I never said anything was wrong with those programs other than the fact that they cannot continue to payout benifits at current and promised levels. Then what do your neighbors do?

In 1967, Johnson allowed farmers, who had not previously paid into social security, to get full benifits if they paid in the maximum($335 annually at the time) for 6 consecutive quarters. I had an uncle who collected over $100,000 on that deal! Hell of a return!
At current levels, boomers will collect 11x what they paid in if they live an average of 17.7 years post retirement. The original actuarial tables for SSI assumed a life expectancy of 3.3 years post retirement. If we used the same perameters as the original tables, current retirement age would be 74 for men and 78 for women.
Thanks to Cesar Chavez, farm workers were allowed into SS in the 70's, even though many are still exempt from overtime laws, some withholding taxes and unemployment insurance deductions. Their SS is paid regardless of their legal status.

It's really obvious that republicans will do anything to protect their "entitlement" to earning a lot of money and not paying taxes, or helping anyone else ......it's truly their way !
