moonmana1: like your analogy.

Another reason people should be checked entering the country is immunizations. Bringing an epidemic into the country would not be a good thing to say the least.
No-one thinks about the consequences... $2000 does not seem unreasonable. And again with today's technology, things can be expedited in a very reasonable time.
Typhoid Mary...laugh Actully I know someone that had to have all new immunizations (even the normal ones you get as a child) because we had no proof they were done....

People say american immigration laws are not fair ....I say they are fair ...everyone has to go though it and it has to be done in a set amount of time if not you must leave, this goes for everyone ....seems fair to mehandshake

Smilerguy: Ya there was a late but loose alliance against the main two candidates Wikipedia "On September 10th 2008 the day of the bank collapse before the bailout Ron Paul held a National Press Club conference at which Chuck Baldwin, Green Party nominee Cynthia McKinney, and independent candidate Ralph Nader all agreed on four principles—quickly ending the Iraq war, protecting privacy and civil liberties, stopping increases in the national debt, and investigating the Federal Reserve—and on their opposition to the Democratic and Republican parties ignoring these issues.

Paul's advice at the conference was to vote for whichever third-party candidate one has the most affinity to, because "we must maximize the total votes of those rejecting the two major candidates." However, on September 22, 2008, Paul stated his neutrality was "due to my respect and friendship and support from both the Constitution and Libertarian Party members ... and I'm a ten-term Republican Congressman. It is not against the law to participate in more than one political party." Paul then gave his endorsement to Baldwin: "Unsolicited advice from the Libertarian Party candidate ... has convinced me to reject my neutral stance in the November election. I'm supporting Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate." Paul later clarified that though he would vote for Baldwin, he recognized the diversity of his support base and did not propose to bind anyone's conscience.

Baldwin has written specifically against the candidacies of Barack Obama and John McCain, and those of vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin" well 2012 will be interesting

I agree with you that we need to get illegals out, however, this article is entitled, "Obama and Illegal Immigration" and you didn't mention him. Truth be told, Obama's Department of Homeland Security has been deporting undocumented immigrants! The number of deportations each year more than tripled during the Bush era -- and has kept going up since then. During fiscal year 2009, the first fiscal year of the Obama era, 387,790 immigrants were deported -- almost 100,000 more during the last full fiscal year of the Bush presidency.

The latest poll I've seen has his approval and disapproval rating just about neck and neck. If you look back through history, you'd see that his approval ratings are higher than other Presidents' have been during the same time.

His approvals started at 70% when he took office. Today have fallen to this near even level in 18 months.

Just maybe GWB had other problem going on? And did complete 1/2 of the border fence. If Obama sends all 12 million illegals out of the country, ow does he propose to keep them out?

Comprehensive immigration reform will not do it....when many are being used as drug mules. Illegally border crossing is needed for the drug trafficking.

That is solution used in ancient China....till they much of the society was in opium houses laying on their sides......and unable
to stand, eat, or work.

Then they changed the laws making it punishable by death to sell opium.

bittersweet28467: Wow,

I bet if you had brown skin and lived in Arizona but were an American citizen you might feel differently about being harassed and detained by the police.

Referring to the President of the United States of America as "boy" in quotes just shows where you are coming from.

Personally, I think he's doing a better job in the 2 years that he has been there trying to IMPROVE America than the 8 years the prior ididot spent completely destroying the country.

Read the AZ law...'all arrested and detained will have their residence status checked'.

All means.....whites, blacks, hispanics, orientals, indians......space aliens that broke the speed laws for entering the AZ atmosphere.

Maher Arar case
Maher Arar, a Syrian-born dual Syrian and Canadian citizen, was detained at Kennedy International Airport on 26 September 2002, by US Immigration and Naturalization Service officials. He was heading home to Canada after a family holiday in Tunisia. After almost two weeks, enduring hours of interrogation chained, he was sent, shackled and bound, in a private jet to Jordan and then Syria, instead of being extradited to Canada. There, he was interrogated and tortured by Syrian intelligence. Maher Arar was eventually released a year later. He told the BBC that he was repeatedly tortured during 10 months' detention in Syria — often whipped on the palms of his hands with metal cables. Syrian intelligence officers forced him to sign a confession linking him to Al Qaeda. He was finally released following intervention by the Canadian government. The Canadian government lodged an official complaint with the US government protesting Arar's deportation. On September 18, 2006, a Canadian public enquiry presented its findings entirely clearing Arar of any terrorist activities. In 2004 Arar filed a lawsuit in a federal court in New York against senior U.S. officials, on charges that whoever sent him to Syria knew he would be tortured by intelligence agents. US Attorney General John Ashcroft, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and FBI Director Robert Mueller are all named in the lawsuit. On October 18, 2006, Arar received the Letelier-Moffitt Human Rights Award from the Institute for Policy Studies for his ordeal. On October 18, 2007, Maher Arar received apologies from the U.S. House of Representatives. Nevertheless, U.S. Representative Dana Rohrabacher, who also apologized, stated that he would fight any efforts to end the practice.

ttom500: Can you give us name of person so detained in the US with reading of Miranda rights? I would like to reflect and google the events of snatced people off of streets.

WE all know they weren't kept in the US... It doesn't matter if they are STORED here if WE are behind it. Personally it makes me sick that my tax dollars would go to such practices.

You and I both KNOW that is BS How many black and white people are they going to be pulling over to "check" their status? They will be targeting people who appear to be hispanic, just like they are now with the non renewal of the driver's licenses. I have plenty of Puerto Rican friends who have been treated like crap because they speak Spanish and appear to maybe be "Mexican"... What's really pathetic is that a majority of Americans (the ones who work in the DMV offices, etc.) aren't even aware that Puerto Ricans are American citizens.
