If they bring drugs or get violent towards you or your kids or destroy your property, that will be ok, won't it? You should still let them stay and become citizens at the front of the line, right? Just let it slide? And if they work and send their money back to their home country?

bittersweet28467: No, of course I would not be fine with that. I understand the other side of the coin, believe me. I see both sides and a large part of the problem is that little American citizens are being born to Pedro every day. So what do we do with that? If I decided I was going to fly to Australia while I was 9 months pregnant and I had a little Aussie baby, that baby would be entitled to all the rights of every other Australian citizen. Would they then deport me if I chose to rais my little Aussie in his/her homeland?

Maybe I should, I bet they'd turn out to be quite sweet and helpful and not at all violent or drug trafficking. Maybe you should too and then maybe you would have a better understanding of where they are coming from.

So If I had my baby in Switzerland I couldn't raise my little Swiss miss there? I think my little lassie should have all the rights and priveleges afforded to every other swiss child (although I have no idea what that is but I bet it's better than what we get in the US)

There is your answer to what we should do with all the illegal's with kids born in the USA. All of them are to leave the country. there children can come back when they are 18 if they decide to live in the USA. We can follow Swiss law.

rohaan: there are some points in your dialogue I agree with, but I want to set the record straight about one thing. President Obama walked into a huge mess. The deficit was gargantuan well before he was elected. Let's at least be politely discerning, even if some don't care for him. He cannot realistically reduce it at once. The steps taken for health care may not be perfect, but as I've said before, SOMETHING had to be done. (The savings from uninsured/unpaid emergency room services is already significant. Citizens and non-citizens alike were using ER as a way to get basic care, because they were being turned away at clinics. I admit that my professional career gave me a broader insight into systems, but honestly I can't understand why people don't "get" the reasoning. The way it was going was BREAKING us! And it's not fair to be denied health care just because you're poor. Everyone has to go through illness at some time or another. Why don't conservatives want to see this? Would they see it if it were them? (uh...YES)

What isn't being said there are lots of programs for the poor.
Mn has MNCARE, Wisocnsin has a similar program. If you cannot afford health insurance, the state will provide it for you.
I pay for Medica Health insurance myself. Have a semi high deductible, small co-pay for doc visits.Know someone on this program and they have the same insurance I do. Only they have no deductible and no co-pay. Premium insurance and they are poor.
Thing is you have to actually know the program exists and sign up for it. KNow there are many states with the same thing.

Deficit.. GWB did add to it, but it is Obama's now. This is 2010.
Bank bail outs were on Obama. Obama is living off the credit card now. Not Bush. Car bailout was both Bush and Obama.
Housing bubble was greedy bankers, and Congress.
That all was started before Bush, happened during Bush and failed at the end of Bush.
Could have failed on Obama just as easy. But it was Bernanke, and Congress with rules to give the poor loans inevitably they could not pay back. And banks dumping these bad loans on Freddie May, and Fannie mac.
Corrupt (Congress) politicians and bankers... and Bush and Obama take part of the blame because of their positions. and this problem is not cleaned up yet.. House was not cleaned and it all will happen again.
Can be a whole new thread.. deficit. Obama is running it now and I think he is implementing the wrong programs and subsidies.
Should have let the banks fail, car companies file bankruptcy.
Everything would have bottomed out, real prices without subsidies would be in place and the Nation would be on its way out of this recession.
